What retro console systems do you own?
« on: November 02, 2010, 01:41:30 AM »
Inspired by this recent thread: What do you have outside of PCE? - which is dealing with games, here is a thread to state which retro console systems you own.

For the sake of this post, retro is being defined as nothing after the sixth generation of consoles (Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox).

I'll get things started:

[ul][li]NEC PC Engine (with CD-ROM2 unit and IFU-30)[/li][li]Sega Mega Drive II[/li][li]Sega Saturn[/li][li]Super Nintendo[/li][li]Nintendo 64[/li][li]Neo Geo AES[/li][li]Neo Geo Pocket Color[/li][li]Xbox[/li][li]Playstation 2[/li][li]Various arcade PCB's[/li][/ul]
I don't have all that many but the list will continue to grow. Next on my list will be a Master System, Nes and a Dreamcast. I try to only collect consoles that I will actually play, which will always keep my list on the shorter side. Typically, I only buy boxed consoles, as complete as possible and in great condition, another reason why my list is rather short atm.

Well, if the PS2 counts according to your rules, then I have a rev 5 PS2 fatass and a model 1 Sega Saturn... nothing else anymore. :( I don't really even have a PCE/TG16 really anymore, just the disassembled one for my TG-PC project... it still works and plays games though. :)

I don't have so many of the older consoles since I got my first console like.. 1990 or something. But this is what I have that isn't exactly "new":

[ul][li]Game Boy (two regular, one Pocket, one Color)[/li][li]Game Boy Advance[/li][li]Nintendo Entertainment System (three or four of them)[/li][li]Super Famicom[/li][li]Super Nintendo (two eur and one us)[/li][li]Nintendo 64[/li][li]Gamecube[/li][li]Master System (one "Master System II" and one regular with 50/60hz-mod)[/li][li]Mega Drive[/li][li]Saturn[/li][li]Dreamcast[/li][li]Fairchild Channel F[/li][li]Playstation (two or three, one transparant plus one slim)[/li][li]Playstation 2[/li][li]Xbox[/li][li]Commodore 64[/li][li]Some PCB's[/li][li]PC Engine (coregrafx)[/li][/ul]

Ooh, what's the Fairchild Channel F like? I've never seen one in the flesh nor played one, have only read about it on the web. If you can be bothered, post some pics.

Just consoles, right?

Atari 2600
Intellevision
Colecovision
Master System
NES
Genesis
SNES
N64
PS1
PS2
Dreamcast
XBox
GameCube

and of course, a tg16+cd.
The strange thing is, I bought most of them when they first came out, too. Original owner.

Red Baron rocks, other than that I have very few good games and the second controller is broken (they are built in so I can't replace it) so I actually have it in a box in the bottom of our "basement-cage" gathering dust. And for that reason I can't offer any tasty pictures for the time being. I love the game cartridges, almost as big as a Gameboy (!) and yellow. That's the way to go.

I'm definitely missing some, but here's what immediately comes to mind
Atari 2600
Intellivision
Atari 5200
Colecovision
Atari 7800
NES
Sega Master System
Game Boy
Lynx
Turbo-Grafx 16
Genesis
SNES
Neo-Geo AES
TurboDuo
Game Gear
Sega CD
3DO
Jaguar
Jaguar CD
Phillips CD-I
Virtual Boy
Playstation
Saturn
N64
Game.com
Game Boy Color
Dreamcast
Neo-Geo Pocket Color

Added in edit:
I don't consider PS2 and beyond retro as new licensed PS2 games still come out to this day in the US. Also I'm not counting different models of different systems. For example, I have a bunch of different Atari 2600, Genesis and Sega CD models.
But for the purposes of this thread I'll add
Playstation 2
Game Boy Advance
Xbox
Game Cube
Ngage

Virtual Boy and Jaguar, not many people have those, nice.

Keep 'em coming, this is quite interesting. It's great to see so many retro consoles owned by so many different people.

Neither of those are that uncommon. The Neo Geo AES, or the Jaguar CD system are both far less popular than those two.

Here's mine;

Nintendo
Genisis
Sega Saturn
TG-16
Turbo Duo (modded)
Atari lynx
Virtual Boy
Ps1
Ps2

Small, but satisfying

I recently aquired this old system from my gf's dad, not sure what it is, have to post some pics to see if anyone knows. I do know it has a few games that are built into it, like pong, football and a gun game. This gun is huge and assebles from 3 pieces. And reeks of old farm basement.
Nothin beats the real thing.
