Screw it.

Favorite cart: Odyssey II - It has a nice handle to help you pull out the cartridge!
Worst cart: Maybe Super Noah's Ark 3D for SNES
(http://home.clara.net/robwebb/shop/snes/noah_cart.jpg)
Best cart artwork: Klax for TG16! I can't find any pictures of it online, but it looks really awesome. Maybe I should scan it later.
-
Best cart: Nintendo 64. I love these carts. They're heavy, they feel good to insert in the console, they look nice. Best cart ever.
Worst cart: GBA. I hate these carts. They're too small and they're ugly. They feel horrible to insert into the system. Worst cart ever.
(That's a pirate cart on the picture by the way, but it was the best one I could find in ten seconds. DS carts look fairly good, but they are too small. I always lose them.)

It's not about cart art... plz read rule #3 kthxbai >_>

I agree with you on the GBA carts (I used to own a GBA), but for a pirate that's damn authentic!
And btw since both of you guys failed to read the second portion of rule #2, for the sake of load times on EVERYONES CONNECTIONS (even my DSL), DO NOT USE INLINE PICTURES! JUST PASTE THE PICTURE URL IN YOUR POST, THANK YOU.

Hey who's the mod around here? ME 8) !

I like pictures in the thread. Links to pictures are much more lame. Dial-up users can go to hell where they belong. They don't even deserve to be alive. God hates dial-up users. And midgets. I certainly won't cater to them.

I agree with Joe. :P I didn't even click the links in the first post, well I did click the first one and guess what...

Does anyone still use dial-up?

OK here's my choices based on the systems I have:
Cool looking carts:
From top to bottom, left to right:
Sega 32X - Much cooler looking than standard Genesis carts with neat little rivets and other fun things.
Sega Master System Card - Cards are just awesome looking.
Sega Master System Cartridge - Clean and simple. Red and black color scheme = awesome. I love it!
TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine HuCard - A more refined version of the Sega card. Just too cool!
Sega Mega Drive Japanese Standard - I always liked the design of these.
Sega Saturn Official Cartridges - Awesome looking carts for Backup saves, extra RAM, King of Fighters '95 and Ultraman.
Sega Mega Drive Japanese Sunsoft - A few different Sunsoft MD games have this cart. I even like it much better than the standard Mega Drive cart! Very tough plastic and simply awesome looking.
Lackluster looking carts:
From top to bottom, left to right:
Sega Genesis Electronic Arts Cartridges - These look stupid. What's the yellow tab for? Looks unlicensed and cheap.
Virtual Boy - Flat, square and boring. Just like my face.
Neo Geo Pocket Color - A little more boring than GameBoy Advance carts... enough to make this list.
Super Nintendo Lockless Cartridges - I fail to understand why Nintendo changed the design of the carts so that they could now be pulled out with the power on. It is a close call between this and the regular SNES carts that lock, but this one edges the others out.
NES Tengen Cartridges - Black doesn't suit the system, and these carts are much harder to remove from the system than regular NES carts due to the lack of a notch to grab onto when pulling.
Honorable mentions: (I have these, but forgot to pull them out to include in the pic)
Sega Genesis Virtua Racing - Looks retarded due to giant SVP chip.
Sega Genesis Sonic & Knuckles Cartridge - Looks like it was designed by someone with Down Syndrome™.
There are many types of carts which I don't have which could fit here, like most unauthorized NES 3rd party carts, Accolade Genesis carts, most Saturn 3rd party carts, most pre-NES game system carts, etc.
Carts that fall in neither the "Cool" or the "Lackluster" categories are:
Sega Genesis standard
Neo Geo AES
Nintendo 64
Nintendo Entertainment System
GameBoy Advance
Nintendo DS
etc etc etc
-
Copy and paste won't kill 'ya ;) .
Yes it will.
....Yes it will.
By the way, while you can't pull out PAL SNES/SFC carts while the system's on, you can still try - and the game will still screw up and the SRAM (if any) will be corrupted. So it doesn't really matter if you can pull it out or not.

Some of my favs:
Shape: Genesis
Art/label: Sega Mark III
Pick up and plug in feel: SMS
Overall coolest: PC Engine HuCards
-
Joe, I think NGPC cartridges are pretty neat! GBA's look stupid because it's essentially the same design, only shorter which makes it look like a little chubby bastard. Plus NGPC carts are easy to remove from systems, unlike all the Gameboy variation carts over the years.
By the way, another cool cart is the Hudson BeeCard or whatever for MSX.
Cool scan of the back of one. (http://www.msxarchive.nl/pub/msx/photos/gamecovers/Baseball_Craze_-Hudson_Soft-_beecard_back.jpg)

Haha, I love how your overall coolest didn't really have any connection with the previous examples you mentioned :D .

My favorites:
2600 IMAGIC & Konami cartridges. in the former case, they're all silvery and space-age looking, and have that handy grab panel. The latter are almost as good, but aren't quite as shiny and grabable.
NES cartridges. they're big, but not too heavy, easy to organize, and easy to insert (top-loading or front)
MyCards and HuCards. they're very easily transported, and have a nice big area for cart art. The former could be better, 'cuz the title should not be upside-down when in the system. They aren't vertically stackable (if you want to find one), but they're so small it is trivial to go through the lot to find the one you want.
Least favorites:
SMS carts. while simple and effective, they don't stand out, and can't be stacked vertically if you want to find one. (arguably, this is what the cases are for, but I digress...)
n64 carts. small but heavy, and rounded on top (not easily gripped) and also not stackable.
All NES pirate carts: They are all ugly as hell. Every single one. some are uglier than others (camerica's are the worst). They usually have strange bumps and grooves that serve no purpose. Every single one is inferior to the official NES cartridge.
Saturn 'cartridges'; the first party carts aren't distinctive. third party carts are usually ugly.

That it is i just bought the jpn version from 16-bit on ebay.
Sorry for linking the pic but i don't have a digital camera
Btw i think famicom carts look better then nes ones any ways. There much smaller and come, in different colors and such.
I also like the look for batman on the famicom.
http://www.japangamestock.com/buy_video_games.php?products_id=5197
Mine is cib and comes in a small black plastic case like the, Megadrive version.
-
I don't know why, but I just love Saturn carts. They have a real meaty feeling when you plug them in, it just feels so satisfying putting them in and then taking them out.
I like the stylin' of NES carts, as long as they are going into a top loader and not the stupid side loader! ](*,)
EDIT: Holy crap, how could I forget the pure awesome ridiculousness of AES carts? Carts with two contact points that weigh as much as a small dog? Count me in, folks!
-
My favorite are NEOGEO MVS carts. They come in shiny black, clear, and see through blue plastic, and dirty or clean Yanton blue bootlegg plastic. They only have a title label, and sometimes a warning sticker. They are not fancy, but built way tougher then AES carts.
-
Now tell me wich art cover for gunstar heros is better

I think the answer to that one should be easy :-"

How could I forget Famicom carts? They rule! I used to collect them solely because of their design! Such cute carts.
From a Russian market - everything is counterfeit:

Heheh "Secret Agent Royal Jew"
I definitely like these Famicom ones, I like that style of the company's logo inscribed into the plastic.

splatterhouse: wanpaku graffiti. :p

That game PWNS.

These 3 are just ... cool

-
YES, all of those thicker HuCards look awesome, especially Street Fighter II's with the cool artwork! I really like the Arcade Card Pro one too, more so than the SUPER SYSTEM CARD 3.0.
-
hucard, bee-card etc. are all kind of cool and cute for sure. for real carts i like the japanese MD the most, followed by NeoGeo and SFC carts. it seems that the states and Europa always got the most ugly one, regarded to the US SNES, NES and MD carts. either they're blown up unecessary big or got an ugly shapelifting almost equal to their hardware counter parts. generally it's not just the shape itself, also the stickers and boxes etc. coming mostly directly from hell.

Uh, dude. European SNES carts look the same as Japanese carts, AES carts look the same and MD carts look like Genesis carts (i e better than Japanese carts). :P
-
Uh dude. 1. Uh i know, but the SNES carts looking awfull with its make up. 2. Uh i know, i didn't refer anything to the AES carts (exept of the make up stuff). 3. Uh i don't know, that the Genesis carts should be looking better than the JPN ones.
-
First Place: Sexy, sleek HuCards (and BeeCards).
Second Place: Zelda's shiny gold cartridges - bling bling FTMFW!
Last Place: N64DD's dumb little zip disk looking junk with tiny labels and crap art.
-
You know, I always disliked the thicker hucards (SFII, TenNoKoe bank, populous). They dont stack well, and dont fit into any card cases. Im just happy the Arcade card Duo is normal thickness :D
-
I always thought famicom discs looked pretty cool for some reason.
-
Agreed, GUTS - except why the hell didn't Nintendo put covers over the media access holes? The stupid little bean counters probably were more interested in cutting production costs and didn't care about reliability.

I've never seen the terms "Neo Geo home carts" and "build quality" used in the same sentence before. They certainly could be placed much better inside the shell, as the PCBs just wobble back and forth as if it was manufactured by cheap Taiwanese child labor. Yes, AES carts feel extremely cheap.
-
I'd be confident in lettting a Hummer run over a MVS cart, though. 1 word: TANK.

YES, another IMAGIC fan! Not only do IMAGIC games kick major ass, but I always loved their shiny labels too! It does kind of suck that they loose the awesome 70's/early-80's artwork that most games had back then, but I definitely dug the shiny label and font. I don't think I have seen a Konami 2600 cart, I didn't even know they made games for Atari. Another Atari 2600 cart I've always admired was the Donkey Kong cartridge, which had a nice bananaish color to it.

Yeah, Imagic was awesome. If I could go back in time and save one company from the crash, it would be them.
I don't think I have seen a Konami 2600 cart, I didn't even know they made games for Atari.
yeah, I have 2: Frogger and Amidar. I guess they aren't 'konami cartridges', per se, because looking at them closely they seem to be copyright parker brothers.
Another Atari 2600 cart I've always admired was the Donkey Kong cartridge, which had a nice bananaish color to it.
Never seen it, sounds cool.
-
Well it was working before, SO IT'S NOT MY PROBLEM ANYMORE AND YOU GUYS GOOGLE IMAGE SEARCH IT FOR YOURSELVES THEN!
-
It only worked for you, as you had already loaded the image from the original server. We cannot join the fun.
-
Huh? Keranu's image works for me. Maybe only cool people can see it - or a giant dork in my case. I have a copy of Donkey Kong for 2600 somewhere, but I remember the case being a grayish color (like in the pic). What kind of sick bananas have you been eating Keranu?
-
Haha, well I always remembered the color being a very light yellow mixed with grey. Reminds me of an old banana or something, maybe it's just me. It's certainly a unique color however!
-
(http://lazerdorks.org/~xiphas/images/donkeykong2600.jpg)
My cart is more gray that yellow, the yellowing is probably due to age. This is one cart I would mind the yellowing on, it is pretty apropos for the game.
-
Just to clarify what I meant by "banana color", I meant the color of the fruit of the banana, not the peel. I explained this to Xiphas on #lazerdorks already.
-

yeah, that does make more sense.
-
Oooo Sears Video Arcade! I wonder if Montgomery Ward or The Gap ever had their own video arcade?
-
Haha, yeah Sears was listed on a lot of Atari games.
-
Zellers (a Canadian department store chain) also published some 2600 games.
things before the crash were crazy.

Ah-ha, that makes perfect sense then.
-
mmmmm banana cartridge =P~. I wonder if that dude who eats hucard cerial has a banana cartridge along for a complete breakfast.
-
Haha, that dude who eats HuCard cereal.
-
That's what he does for a living.
-
Kinda odd. I thought I was the only one.

I have a Tandyvision system. It works better than any of my Mattel Intv's.
