I got inspired by black_tiger's Ys photos in that other thread. It is always so exciting to look at pictures of other people's video game collections, so please post away!
It feels like there's been a similiar thread somewhere, or at least I remember looking at pics of Joe Redifer's and some other guy's games, but that might have been in the mug thread. If there's a thread like this somewhere, well, then it's probably dead... so we can post pics here instead. :P

That Taito cocktail table is the coolest thing I've seen in my life.
You guys are, like, serious collectors.
I'm in it for the games, man. My collection pales in comparison to these.
-
that cocktail table is quite bad ass I agree!! I love those things! No home is complete without one... my home is incomplete...
-
Tatsujin has posted pics of his collection before, it's quite awesome. Tat I'm telling you mam, you're loaded!
-
Tatsujin, I have the exact same cocktail table. :P I bought it with Black Tiger.
Mine has joystick + 2-button jamma controls though and I painted it black.
Up until a couple months ago, its been my living room coffee table. Now it sits against the wall a couple feet away. :)
-
Tatsujin - is that a Bandai Vectrex you have, or just a regular one?

Here's my cocktail cabinet-

What is an FC AV console?
A NES?
Searched google but it's all in japanese.
Also, great if you can use a monitor sitting on it's side for shooters.

Yeah a famicom av is the japanese version of the nes top loader.
Same thing expect japanese model has the audio&video and, the u.s model just has RF.
I own a famicom av as well the console is small and great on saving space.
Just one of the many things i like about it too.
Btw a regular famicom just has RF sad to say.
-
Actually, the NES puts out A/V. The original famicom did not.
-
I'm from the PAL territory and my NES has a mono sound output and a video output on the side.
My snes can be used with a scart from N64 or gamecube, i think my American snes to.

Kewl at least nintendo did right by that on a front loader nes.
It's just a shame it was drop for it in the west on the 'top loader unless it get's modded though.
-

not at least, because there lies about 3 years between each releases. more shame the toploader even didn't support A/V anymore.
@guyjin: nope, it was a euro-release by milton bradley. the bandais 光速船 cost the hell out of money, novadays =;

Man the white Duo looks like one of those portable old people toilets... :-&
I would post pics of my collection, but it's not impressive. I never really took good care of my stuff when I was little, and as such, all my PS1 games are either cracked or lying under my bed, their cases used as cases for burned CDs to give to my friends, and my N64 games died of cart rot.
All I have of my collection is a couple of Gamecube games (Red Faction 2, Star Fox Adventures, Ikarauga (no manual) and Megaman X Collection, I have more but they aren't mine, they're shared in my family) and a couple of loose SNES games (MegaMan X3, Gradius 3, Secret Of Mana, Illusion Of Gaia, and Final Fight 3 (again I have more, but those are shared in my family, not really mine).
Lesson learned: Take care of your stuff, or you're not going to have good stuff.
-
"Cart rot"?
Explain.
-
"Cart rot"?
Explain.
That's what they call it on the net, and theres supposed to be some expensive spray to fix it, but basically, I left my N64 carts standing on my shelf with the connectors facing downwards. This somehow caused oxidization, and now the connectors are all brown and green (green spots, not the color of the board) and wont boot. I KNOW it's not the N64, that works with some other games that are in. I just lost GoldenEye, Starfox 64, and Jet Force Gemini. :(
This baffles me, because I left them on a clean dust-free shelf, no moisture, no humidity.
-
Can't you just take a little sand paper to the contacts and call it good?
I can't imagine it's any more trouble than cleaning corroded terminals on a car battery.

The problem with that is if you had them standing to where the connectors were not exposed to any kind of elements, basically standing on a shelf,,or against a shelf, this would not, should not have occurred. Oxidization only tends to happen if the environment is somewhat harsh,or you introduced a new chemical onto the pins,i.e. Windex, something with ammonia ect. You can take a slightly hard metal bristle brush that looks like a tooth brush and remove it,but you will need to take apart the cart first. Worse comes to worse, you can take a rag,the thin plastic handle of a trow away fork or spoon,or a thin handled toothbrush, and soak the rag in alcohol, place a layer over the handle end each side, work it in the carts pin space, and rub hard to clean. This has worked for me in the past.
-
Yeah, I'd recommend the sandpaper thing as well. Where in the country do you live? I've had all my N64 carts (all 4 of them) facing down on a shelf for years and years. Same with all of my SNES games. Never a problem.
-
zack, post some pictures of the rotten carts
-
I've never experienced cart rot or even heard of it before. Laser rot, sure, but cart rot? Never!
-
I think my car has cart rot, haha
-

Last time I went to Wal-Mart I had a cart with a moldy wheel.

Your ideas are great sounding, but they all require too much work. And since the reward will only be the resurrection of some old muddy-graphics (albeit fun) games that can EASILY be emulated on my PC and (thanks to today's $10 converter purchase) played with the far superior Gamecube controller, I have another plan that shall be executed in one month from today.
Yes my friends, in one month from this very day, it shall be July 4th.
And I have $580-something dollars.
That's a SHITLOAD of firecrackers, folks.
Well, I'll probably only spend $100, but over here, that's like 7000 individual firecrackers, those good ones too, not the shit Dixie Dynamites, we're talking Black Cats, those waterproof mofos with the long fuses, and if you know where to look, M80s! 8)
Yes, on that day I will be watching Transformers, eating great grilled foods, and partaking in the destruction of 2 games by a company that turned out to be a Microtraitor and a game that spelled the DOWNFALL of one of my former favorite franchises.
In other words, I'll be partying like it's 1999. Life is great. ^_______^
-
haha, are you going to blow those games up with those firecrackers? you should put it on youtube if you do.
-
haha, are you going to blow those games up with those firecrackers? you should put it on youtube if you do.
I would, but my mom's digicam is a temperamental POS with a low-light disability. :(
I could do it in the day time, but it has a problem taking more than 3 seconds of video. My dad was messing with it, he must have hit some setting. If I can figure it out, and the conditions are good outside, you shall have your video. :)
Where in the country do you live?
The "wonderful" world of Texas. Some day I swear I am LEAVING this God-forsaken place, to go to a place where the sun is always shining, and the air smells like warm root beer, and people will gladly shave your back for a nickel! (http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/albuquerque)
Nah, actually I really want to go to Los Angeles.

Its kinda ugly in downtown los angeles, but overall California is pretty nice.

I know that this topic hasn't been added to in a while, but it's not the sort of topic that goes dead really so I thought I'd add to it with my current set-up:
I've taken one big picture and a couple of close-ups.
Main Picture:

Close-up right:

Back to front: Tectoy SMS3, PS2, Amiga CD32
Close-up left:
Top to bottom: RetroCon (NES clone system), Mega Drive (on top of sky box), Master System (on top of DVD/VCR), PC Engine Duo
Close-up main systems:
Not pictured in a little pile further to the right Amstrad GX4000, NEC Super Grafx, PS1 (I don't have room for everything to be set up at once!)
These are just the systems I have hooked up right now, and I couldn't possibly get all of my video game stuff together for one photo - staying in a smallish flat, it's scattered all over the place between four rooms and in various cupboards, on shelves, in drawers etc. Still, hope you enjoy!
-
I've never seen a tec toy sms3. it's pretty nice looking.
-
but it's also quite the shitter.
1. only AV mono
2. strange pads
3. the built in games have a lot of sound issues (seems they didn't use original MD parts e.g. yamaha chip sets..). i assume the same probs for games on original carts.
-
Hrm. I just relocated my stuff to a new room. I will have to bust out some camera/photo destruction in a bit.

The flash really exposes the rats nest of wires in the rear.
-
Lol Majors,I have that same laserdisc player also as a back up player. They can be used in laserdisc arcade kits. Its not a bad player for a older industrial deck.
-
We used those same (or very similar) LD players to show old movies on at a theater I used to work at. We took two copies of old movies (Hitchcock era and older) and programmed them to do changeovers so that the side changes were absolutely seamless (frame accurate). Video looks like ass compared to film, but the older audience probably couldn't see so well so they likely didn't care. Decent players, though!
-
I feel embarrassed to even show what collection I got compare to some you serious collectors out there:cry:
-
Got some shelving and I am getting more organized. I was a gamer living out of a dark closet for too long.
Still more work to do to this house before I will be happy with the game room.

Well as some members know Im moving at the end of June I started to pack up my entertainment center and decided to get some pictures before I do....This is about everything I own right now...I have owned alot more systems etc over the years but never collected the stuff....Im a dumbass for getting rid of all my old things. I have started to buy some of em back, SNES, Dreamcast shown....I want to get way more but man this stuff gets expensive....I really like your collection Tatsujin! That is some impressive stuff...I have to ask tho...Whats with having so many system cards? and would you be willing to sell one to a beginning collector as myself? 8)
So neways this is what I have accumulated in about 2 years its just about everything that goes in my entertainment center...When I say accumulated in 2 years I mean the tv, entertainment center, everything!!!! Plus ofcourse what is not show (which I dont think is much).
I do have a Duo-R coming my way so that will go in the collection....If anyone has a box for that system they would be willing to sell or trade lemme know you see what I have take a pic at something. Never hurts to try and make a trade!
