A friend lent me this game, and I refuse to have my Dreamcast hooked up in anything less than component/VGA (480p), so SNK games don't run because the programmers of these games obviously weren't very bright. Is there a workaround that doesn't require me to hack up my Dreamcast or remove my current AV connection?
-
There are a few games you can trick into VGA using something like the Innovation Super Game Converter. It works for Sakura Wars 1 and 2, I know, but when I tried it with Jo Jo's it just gave me crazy out of synch video.
I'm trying to think of what a home brew version of the ISGC would be...
-
ROFL... Get an MVS Joe!
-
Component won't fix the crappiness of this port.
-
MVS is for poor and/or homeless people.
So Keranu... maybe my Dreamcast is trying to do me a favor by not letting me play it???
-
What about people with gonorrhea?
-
Component won't fix the crappiness of this port.
This.
Remember, kids, Agetec. AGETEC. It is also based off of the Neo CD version and not the AES version for some bizarro reason. It's not as bad as DC Mark of the Wolves, but it is still subpar.

Wow, those were some quick replies, Joe and nat!
MVS is for poor and/or homeless people.

Well your Dreamcast is not letting you play it because it's actually too weak to handle it. Not only is the picture quality greatly inferior to the original Neo Geo version, but it's too wimpy that it relies on macro buttons for the supers!
-
What about people with gonorrhea?
Those people need to get the Neo Geo CD.

WTF does Agetec have anything to do with it? All they do is change a game's region and add their name to the box. I actually quite like a lot of stuff Agetec published.
-
Well, they royally screwed up their Neo Geo fighter ports, and I'll never forgive them for that, buster. :|
-
Totally agreed,Agetec ruined every Neo port they released here by one method or another. In all the SNK titles, blood removed, and the marketing was poor. Why play a Last Blade with no blood, thats more gay then gay porn. Thats f*ckin rainbow (for you Hammad) as far as I am concerned. And yea, also, the video quality just kinda sucked on the DC ports of Last Blade 2 and Garou. Joe,since you don't want a MVS,brag how its for the poor, then just buy the AES cart and don't mention any other port of a Neo title ever again. If you have the cash to blow $60-200 on games I can get for $10-70 they hey,go for it guy. In the end my game selection I think is still going to fair better then yours. And complete MVS kits have nicer things come with them then complete AES carts.
-
You are so hung up on the MVS, I like saying anything pro-AES since I know you hate it to death as well as the people who use it.
Anyway why would I buy a game that I've never played before? True, I can afford it, but that doesn't mean I buy shit because people say I should for that price. Got my ass burned with the shitty Samurai Shodown already, and that was like $5 complete/mint. You seem to like shitty games, so I'd really like to try before I buy with your stellar recommendations. Your opinion means nothing to me.
-
Look, everybody LOVES the Dreamcast and shit, but Sega's aborted fetus is not that great in the NeoGeo port department.
Hell, just get a computer and use your HDTV as a monitor and just play WinKawaks or some shit.
-
Snk vs Capcom works in 480.
-
Well, they royally screwed up their Neo Geo fighter ports, and I'll never forgive them for that, buster. :|
They didn't make those Neo Geo ports, SNK did. Well, probably some outsourced mules like Tose did it, but either way Agetec doesn't make games. They don't port games, from Neo Geo, or anything else. They just localize. Do you actually not understand this? Do you think Working Designs "made great RPGs" too?
As for the blood being removed, made white, whatever, that's actually SNK's fault. I can't remember the exact explanation, but you'll find that the blood is white in almost any Neo Geo game if its played on a US system. This tends to carry over to ports as well. I'm pretty sure I read some sort of response from Agetec about this back in the day.
I don't see what's so bad about SNK ports on DC aside from Garou. Garou was ass with the sound thing. I remember playing a bootleg and noticing all the FX were late, and someone told me it was because it was a bootleg. Then I played a real copy and it was nearly as late. KOF 98, and 99 turned out pretty well when compared to...KOF 98 on PS1, for example. That POS is missing so much animation is screws up my combos...with Takuma...and Takuma barely even has any animation to lose.

I didn't recommend any particular game to you yourself Joe,what the f*ck is your deal.... I would never recommend any game to you because you already proved my point in your other post how you are one of those Capcom only SF drones, with your red wine and Sf 2 romantic night alone by yourself. As far as MVS,or any "shitty" game I own, Id like to inform you that your soon to be twice dead AES with its broken ass stick and your meager ass collection of games for it do not even compare in quality or value to anything in my total collection of arcade titles buddy. The difference is between us that I take it seriously, not just the Neo-Geo,but the whole arcade thing in general. You are just a passer by with a few games on your AES who whines and bitches about anything with a challenge beyond Puzzle Fighter. For someone who's supposed to be in their early 30ies you have sounded alot like a bitchy braggy 12 year old who has dad buy him anything he wants, but he hates everything he gets. Spoiled comes to mind.
Anyway Joe,you stack your AES collection any day of the week against the titles I own on my list, and tell me who has "shitty" games. If you honestly believe you have the cream of the crop, your a f*ck wit.

A few of the games I own together are worth more then your entire AES collection of games. To me the AES is on equal grounds with anything I own,you can judge it all the same. Its all arcade hardware, the AES is just in a plastic shell and the games built in a snap casing to lesser construction quality. Its just a simple matter of you are unhappy with whatever you do get,and what little you do is what you seem to make all your judgments by.
Also, you brag about the AES basically being a rich mans toy, thats how it seems at least, how you can afford it,but yet you have hardly anything for it yourself, just a few of the cheap titles and a broken stick.... I fail to see how you can insinuate me or Tron or any MVS fan are poor for collecting MVS hardware instead. This bragging crap your doing is the same ego bloated non-sense that floods the Neo forums and what flooded NGF. In other words,I bet you feel your a real "Big Tymer" huh with your rich mans AES??? Since your so rich go buy some superglue and fix your AES stick you broke in obvious anger at how badly you suck like a whiny bitch at real games.
And for that matter, look at my game list, like I said,I own games worth more then your entire AES collection. The only so so worth item you have of real value is a convert cart of a f*cking Neo Turf Masters....YOU ARE NOTHING compared to me on this subject of dropping high dollar amounts on games. And I buy NOTHING anyone recommends. I think for my f*ckin self. And there are others with many more titles under their cap,MVS or jamma then I, so go to hell with your baby whine bullshit and self assumed AES rich boy nonsense. God your so f*ckin rainbow like Hammad :P
And for the MVS fans, heres a ugly poor quality pic of my carts.

Samurai Showdown 3 and KOF 95 on PS1 contained blood, both released by SNK,as did Samurai Showdown on Genesis and 3DO,published/programmed by others. I actually believe this blood removal was a decision made on the part of Agetec when they released the SNK ports they did here. None of the arcade ports they released even had any marketing meret. Even Strikers 1945. Any of them. I fail to see how you can assume SNK was behind it just because they censored content on some of the early Mega- Shocks on USA region AES systems. There is a blood option on USA MVS bios on games with blood. You can turn it on or off, which is ideal for a vendor. In my home the option always stays on. people don't bleed white. The option should have been given on the ports, not removed. Capcom USA also made this error on Alpha 3 USA and Jo Jo venture home ports. Blood removed. Very gay. Very Baldwin.

Michael,
That's a nice colelciton there, however, I notice something missing!
Samurai Shodown 4. Purchase it.
The single player is pretty simple (Except for bosses), however you can always turn up the difficulty.
SS4 is one of my fav of the 5/6 SS games on the MVS.
The blood spray (Not the same as the fountain) is awesome. There have been times I've loaded the game just to try and get the blood spray happening. So far, it appears to happen randomly when you finish your opponent with a strong attack. Though, if anyone knows of an easier way to make the spray happen, let me know!
-
Yea,I have owned it before. I own titles for MVS off and on that I keep, sell, trade, get back again. I will buy it again. I don't sell or trade them out anymore,so once again my collection is rising steady. The blood spray you talk about,it blew me away when the game came out. The one where it sprays all over your character and sticks to them. Its f*ckin awesome as hell.

Nuff said i'm not gonna get in the middle of this. If Joe wants to stay with AES that's his thing.
Still far as MVS being a poor mans neo for wich Joe stated i call it bs. There are some games that are worth 100+ i should know i've bought a few for that price. Such as View Point and Twinklestar Sprites not to mention a few kits that i have bought over time.
Also setup on mvs can add up if the board is consolized or your if you get a cab instead.
Still when it comes down to the hardware it's the same thing it's just a price difference.
Some perfer mvs becuse the games are cheaper and are not worry about it's looks. Beside wanting, to play the game and are not worry if it holds a value.
While, AES owners want some thing that looks nice and that's convenient to play.... and beside wanting.. a return investment if 'they don't like the game.
Plus when they have the money to burn on it why should the, AES owner care
Ok that's my thought on the whole thing.
Still i can't blame ya for getting upset Micheal i see "that attitude from any one that owns a, AES all the time.

I'm not "assuming" Agetec removed the blood at SNK's request, I have a specific reason for saying this I just...forgot what it was. Maybe I'll get back to you on this one. I know all about MVS BIOS options and shit. I've spent a lot of time on MVS in arcades, and in homes. I also know that there are loads of censored Geo games, censored by SNK themselves for their own stupid reasons. It wasn't just "early" stuff either, it was the majority of the systems life, if I'm not mistaken.
KOF95, and SS3 did have blood, but if I recall correctly they were published in the US by Sony.
-
OK Michael, you win. You're better than me. That's quite obviously what you're trying to prove with your post/game list (I didn't even read the list... I don't read anybody's list unless I am looking to buy something). To be honest I don't give two shits about your collection and the only time I ever really mention mine is in those "picture of your game room" or "what is your latest acquisition" type of threads. The only reason I give you shit about the MVS is because you just won't let me be with my AES. As evidenced by even TRON's post, there seems to be an MVS vs AES mentality out there. Neo Geo owners cannot get along with other Neo Geo owners. You went out of your way to mention that I had red wine the other night. You are obviously trying to insult me. You are trying really hard, and it shows. You see, it is easy to make you angry. You may think you are so great for having arcades and whatnot, but again, I really don't care. You are obviously trying to validate your collection to me as well as your decision to go the route you did. I have no problem with you liking arcade games. They kick ass. I feel Capcom fighting games are better... and YES there definitely are exceptions to that rule. And I wasn't alone when I had wine. I was playing the game with friends.
Just let me be with my AES. You may hate the whole fact that I prefer it and you probably cannot fathom why, but just let me be. You and Keranu have been on my ass for having an AES for a long time now, as well as trying to belittle me for allegedly looking like a Baldwin. Both of you please shut the hell up. That goes for your shiny-happy pie-hole as well, Keranu. In return I'll shut the hell up about the MVS.
This thread was about trying to get a game my friend loaned me to run on my Dreamcast. That's it! I didn't even ask to borrow the game. My friend just said he was never able to get into the game and I told him I never played it. He gave me the game along with Chrono Trigger and Double Dragon 2. I certainly wasn't the one who brought up anything Neo Geo related. You guys just wanted another opportunity to shove the MVS in my face. I'm sorry if I don't squirt all over my keyboard whenever Neo Geo is mentioned, guys. Really, I am. I'm not into the Neo Geo to collect shitloads of games. Now maybe you guys should go clean your keyboards.
------------------------
Now then, it doesn't look like I'll find a way to get this to run. The game is too weak for my Dreamcast. If the Dreamcast were too weak like Keranu said, it wouldn't be able to power it up with any video cable.
As for blood in Neo Geo fighters, I always wondered why the US versions were censored. I'm not trying to bash SNK for the sake of bashing them here, but it is odd that they had this image of "BIGGER BADDER BETTER" and "Exactly like the arcade" and "You're just a weeny if you play with those other loser consoles" etc etc etc and then turn around and take all of the red blood out of their games as if they were pandering to the moms of 8 year-olds. Not a brilliant move when you're trying to be more "hardcore", SNK. And they never went back on that move. Even the latest games were missing blood from the US versions.
-
The Last Blade 2 is a shitty game anyways, its only redeeming feature is being able to pay as Kagami.
-
Is that the chick with the tits? I thumbed through the manual and saw a busty chick but I don't recall the names.
-
Joe,you are the only one going around bragging how your so AES special, that anyone who collects MVS is poor, which is utter nonsense. And what I said about you being a whiny baby bitch applies both to Neo and non Neo games alike. You whine and bitch too often these days. I don't know what happened to you but you used to not do so so often, now its a regular habit. Did someone steal your bicycle or something, and your taking it out on people on here? I didn't post my list to say I'm better then you,I did it to show you that just because someone collects MVS does not mean they are just poor,or cheap skates, sometimes its simply what they want or prefer to collect,so I simply mean that you can drop the rich boy AES mentality. People like us still drop tons of cash into the games we own,we just choose different formats. How your accusing MVS owners of being poor,Its f*cking weak. No one buys into it.
Besides, you brag about owning a system you hate. Its a oxymoron pretty much.
I don't hate the AES,the hardware is the same in the end, I hate people who act like you about it,esp when they own it just to say they do,they feel it boost their social status somehow, which is typically the case when it comes to people who only have 8-10 games, and bitch in epic long rants about Samurai Showdown 2. The only aspects you have ever heard me say anything about the AES in a negative manner are the prices of the latter carts released, and the construction quality and video out being poor on alot of the decks. These are actually all legit complaints. I and Tron both said if you want more games at better prices and better constructed carts,go with a MVS. That was pretty much it. I have owned a AES deck quite a few times from 98-2004 and inbetween that time lots of AES carts. In the end I just found I liked the MVS format more.
-
Oh yea Joe,I'm sorry you look like a Baldwin. Do you want a apology note and a bouquet of flowers too?
Its your fault,not ours.
-
No one buys into it.
I bought it, but I don't have to take everything as 100% literal. MVS is cheaper than AES, so it's obvious to me which one would a poor person would buy. Kias, Hondas, and Fords are for poor people too. If it ain't a Veyron, it sucks.
*back on topic*
How common is it for DC games to refuse 480p? I've never run into it myself, but my DC experience is rather limited.
-
A lot of antagonizing going on here.
I work with the MVS when playing Neo Geo. It's cheaper. With MVS, the prices generally are not insanely high for some games.
For example. I recently purchased Magical Drop 3 MVS. That was about $50 or something. Now, that same game sells for about 10X that price on AES.
KoF 2003 I purchased an entire kit for about $50. Whereas the AES cart is going to sell for at least $100.
Metal Slug for MVS... about $30. AES, wow, close to $2,000
Shock Troopers and Shock Troopers 2nd Squad. ST1 is not on AES. ST2, it's available, but priced a few hundred higher than I paid for both my MVS carts (About $75 for ST1 and ST2 MVS carts, together.)
Those are my thoughts on the AES, MVS thing. Some games are priced very similar, others....
-
I'll say it for you again Michael: The only reason I give you shit about the MVS is because you give me shit about my AES (which I don't hate, I just think it is overrated). I say the stuff I do SPECIFICALLY to piss you off. And oh boy does it work. It's almost too easy! You are very predictable.
As for the Dreamcast 480p, it only refuses to boot into that mode when a game only supports 240p like most of the SNK fighters. The Capcom fighters like Street Fighter 3 and Jojo have a 240p mode, but the thoughtful programmers put that in as an option. You can run the Capcom games in 240p or 480i/p. I don't think SNK has ever made a game above 240p resolution for any system. Well maybe the NG64, but I don't recall what the resolution of the games used on that thing were.
-
Your whining doesn't piss me off Joe,I just think your a 30 sumthin year old baby whiny bitch. You complain about everything, like most other Baldwins, and I have a feeling that like all Baldwins, long lost or acknowledged, you actually believe in your own bullshit. The only thing that pisses me off is you accusing anyone collecting MVS hardware of being poor when you don't buy shit yourself for your prized AES.
-
Yeesh, take a chill pill, Joe  .
I don't have a problem with you owning an AES. In fact I think there are things I like about AES, like how it's an actual console and how fighting games include a nice practice mode. I'm not "on your ass" about having an AES, but I was curious at first why you choose the more expensive AES route and instead tried letting you know that you can save a lot of money in the long run with MVS. I might've trolled you along the way about it like you troll us about stuff, but it was all for good fun if I did. I'll gladly accept being a broke ass MVS bum if it means I don't have to pay over $100 for most games :) .
This thread was about trying to get a game my friend loaned me to run on my Dreamcast. That's it! I didn't even ask to borrow the game. Lets be honest, Joe; you knew darn well that this thread was going to get railed by the trolling comments you made against Neo Geo just from the topic alone ;) . I saw Helgeson's name a mile away as soon as I saw this topic and of course it was true.
-
Why is it so insulting to say that you look like a Baldwin?
I think the Baldwins are pretty nice looking in the rugged individualist kind of way. 8)
-
I know! When I first posted how Joe looked like Stephen Baldwin, it was by no means an insult but a complement in a way! Heck, Stephen is probably my favorite Baldwin!
-
It's because Helgeson keeps trying to use it as an insult. He keeps trying to rub it in my face. Just look at his most recent post. Obviously I make you angry, Mike, otherwise you wouldn't keep going out of your way to insult me.
-
Joe,you are the only one going around bragging how your so AES special, that anyone who collects MVS is poor, which is utter nonsense.
Dude, that's the whole point of owning AES; lording your superiority and flagrant waste of cash over others. It wasn't that way back in 1992. It isn't that way when a home cart is released for $250 and the MVS is $1200, but when the home cart inflates to $500, and the MVS depreciates to $70...that's when the change occurs. AES owners are Too Legit to Quit, Neo Cd owners are homosexual, and MVS owners are traitorous anarchists.
The reason my Golf doesn't have 22" gold plated spinner rims is because I'm too poor. The fact that 22" gold plated spinner rims are f*cking retarded is peripheral.
No, seriously, AES collectors pay hundreds of $ more for...a case and a 16 page instruction book. Amazing. That an credit limitations for some reason. Truly. Its even stupider than collecting US TG-16 titles.

Look, both of you guys are arguing. On the Internet. About game consoles.
You all need to stop taking this shit so personally, it's about as mature as a dick measuring contest in a high school locker room, and in the grand scheme of things is just about as pointless. It's also spreading into a lot of threads in different forums, which quite frankly, I don't like.
You're both trying to prove who's the bigger man here. Why don't you stop trying and PROVE who's the bigger man by quitting this retarded shit before it gets any bigger, huh?
-
Looks like Kitsunexus is the ONLY mature person here. You should be a mod here. I'm not kidding.
And SignOfZeta, thanks for the feeling of persecution. I'm loving it. Good show. Perhaps nobody read the reason why I harped on the MVS. Feel free to gang up on me any time.
-
Sheesh, and people harped on ME for wanting to own a complete US TG16 game collection, noting the high price (as if I can't afford it...if I can afford to press PCE CDROM games, I can certainly afford the US collection). Whining about SNK games on a PCE forum is kinda...well, lame. There's a place for whining about SNK games, and it sure ain't here...
-
Joe,I'm not going to apologize to you for how you look. Its your own fault,or your moms for sleepin with Alec, not mine. You want to look like someone else,go under the knife and go for a chisled Bruce Campbell look. That would earn mucho respects and none of the insults. For that matter, quit whining. What do you care if I use how you look like a Baldwin as a insult. It should only bother you if your really insecure, esp about your heritage...
Here, this is a comparison chart for you broken down into a very basic language I know you will be able to understand.
No more references will be made to your father after this post,I swear, unless you go letting your mouth run again how rich you and the rest of the Baldwins are.

Hell, I don't think there should even be mods here! Go ahead, Aaron, take away my mod powers! :D It's not like I did much anyways.

Well,it is a general console chat area thread.... I never harped on you for wanting a complete collection btw :) I think thats a pretty awesome and totally obtainable goal.

Michael, I am not rich. The MVS is not a poor man's Neo Geo. You took what I said far too seriously. Look, I only bought the AES to enjoy a select few games that I enjoyed back in the day. As I have probably said 3 times by now, I never intended to collect heavily for it. The Baldwin thing doesn't bother me, it's how you keep trying to rub it in my face AS an insult. It's your abrasive attitude that bothers me. I'm quite fine with how I look. If I didn't anger you, you'd most likely ignore me.
Damn, I can't believe that I'm ignoring Kitsu's post as I type this. We're all little babies in this thread. Except Kitsu.

Really,I didn't know there was a dick measuring contest in high school. I was too busy dropping out, getting a job, buying games and having sex with women. So this contest,is that like the nasty college circle jerk stuff you always hear about???
-
I cannot help Joe with his initial problem, can anyone else help Joe run LB2 on his Dreamcast? :)

OMG TOUGH WORDS ON THE INTERNETZ!
I think we:
1. Need to get back on the topic at hand which is Dreamcast ports of SNK games
and
2. Need to get D-Lite in here, as he's the only one who knows what the hell he's talking about when it comes to this kind of stuff.
-
Run it in an emulator. Problem solved.
-
Yeah, I don't think that I'm going to be able to get this game to boot. I'm going to have to see if I can find the S-video cables. Oh well. :(
And yes, I'll keep in mind that this is a bastardized port.
-
Personally Joe I think you would like the first one more since the story, backgrounds, and even music was cooler.
-
Yeah, I don't think that I'm going to be able to get this game to boot. I'm going to have to see if I can find the S-video cables. Oh well. :(
I actually like S-Video. Granted, I'm not picky about video quality unless it's my PC, and I only have a 20-inch non-HD capable CRT TV. But hell, I can see the picture, it's in color, I don't really need much more.

Its pretty obvious the game simply is not going to run the way he wants it to via VGA port. Some titles you can just not force. It takes nothing special to know this. This is just how the software wishes to run,how it was designed to do so. I never meant for what I said to be tough words, just yanking your chain. Seriously I understand what you were trying to say, however I made a point to avoid all the high school non-sense you mentioned and did exactly what I stated I did.
-
Hey Keranu,I am the exact same way also on how I feel about Last Blade 2. Its ok,but I feel 1 was much better. LB 2 has alot of lack luster stages and music esp.
-
I like s-video as well, but I'm just not 100% sure where my cables are and climbing behind the whole conglomeration of madness behind my TV is not fun, either. Maybe if I find the cables I'll play it on my SDTV dedicated to old-school consoles (everything pre-DC). At least then the 240p would be proper.

Throwing in a reply to SignofZeta,
The US TG-16 library is a bit different, as those titles are in english, while most of the jap releases of the same title are only in jap, possily some english here and there. Also, I only know of 2 US titles that fetch over $150. Neo Geo, all the carts are pretty much the same (Except for pin differences between aes and mvs).
PC-Engine must be the poor man's Turbo Grafx (in case it goes over some heads, I'M KIDDING).
MVS, AES, I don't care. Aes may be prettier, however MVS gets the job done for me. The Universe Bios helps. If you dump a universe bios into either machine, I think you can play the aes like an mvs, it works that way on my MVS. That's only a $30 or so upgrade. Joe, take a look into a modified bios, if you haven't already. Some fun stuff there.
-
Yeah, the Universe BIOS is awesome. I don't know if I could NOT have it.
Anyway I found an s-video cable and hooked up the DC to an SDTV. I didn't have any issues with the graphics. The scaling was really clean. There wasn't much music that I heard and maybe during the port they screwed up the voices (they sound really harsh). I like the game a better than Samurai Shodown, but SNK fighters really are different than anything else. For some reason I just can't get the hang of them, though I did get further in this game than in SS2. I hold back to block, but attacks still get through. What am I doing wrong? Also there is a "repel" button. Is that a block button? Also what is the best character to use? I just used the first one on the list and then some little girl. After that I used some other guy who was just awful. He had spinning blades... hell they all probably have spinning blades. I noticed a lot of SvC Chaos in here... you can choose a cheat when you continue, you have 2 life bars per round, etc. Oddly, I can almost walk right through SvC Chaos, though if Geonutz pops up I may need to continue.
I'm glad there weren't polygons in the background like KoF Evolution. Ug.
While I had my DC out I played some Street Fighter 3.3 and cranked up the difficulty. My left thumb muscle is now mush. I got close to the end (I think, I forget how many stages there are). There is almost too much animation in this game and as a result my timing is off. Looks awesome as hell, though, even if it is a low-res game. An almost perfect port, graphically.
-
What is prob happening is your prob doing a standing block and they are hitting you with low attacks because your turtling up far to often. Repel is harder to use. You can use it to deflect a attack and while they are stunned attack yourself. Comes in most handy if your playing "Speed".As bad as it sounds, you should spend about 30 mins just doing repels. Get the hang of it. Characters like Moriya in speed with alot of repel will rip anybody apart in a matter of seconds.
-
Speed mode is for scrubs.   [-X
-
I was mostly doing POWER mode since I myself am hungry for power. I did the EX mode once and am not sure what it is for.
-

LOL,sorry,I like to be able to do more then 3-4 hit combos....
-
Bah, high combo counts are for the same type of nerds who brag about high uptimes! A 4 hit combo is great when you've wiped out an entire lifebar (Kaede has a great one).
