Well they finally list what will be on it.
http://playmagazine.com/index.php?fuseaction=SiteMain.showGamePage&Game_ID=717
Still it's lame no pre neogeo titles on it such as,Ikari Warriors,P.O.W,Time Soldiers,Guerrilla War or even Vanguard shesh.
Oh well good news for non neogeo owners bad news for people, who payed to down load them on the wii vc.

Now that's a compilation I could get into. lol I haven't played Vanguard since....since....lets just say its been a while.heh. I loved that game. I haven't been able to find a working MAME ROM for Vanguard. And besides, you need special controls for that game if I remember correctly. Not sure how that would work on a keyboard, though I do have a 6 button wireless controller for my PC.

I loved playing Time Soldiers and Robocop at the local candy store ("Jack's") on the way home from school.

Ahhhh. Nice memories. Gotta love it. lol.

P.O.W. was one of their best games, I have been fascinated by Vietnam since I was a little kid and I absolutely loved playing P.O.W. on the NES and in arcades. I remember when I was really little thinking how realistic the game must be, haha.

haha. I might have to play some POW on MAME. heh. I need some realistic 'Nam action. :P

Definitely :). I played a lot of Ikari Warriors at Jack's, too, now that I think about it.

Steve, you always have the most 80's stories!

Don't get me started on all the great games they had at the local ice rinks here in NJ. I used to go ice skating during the winter and the summer (NJ Devil's used to practice at one of the the rinks in the summer!). There was an abandoned ice rink adjacent to the new facility.... the old rink was friggin' awesome: huge, tons of seating, totally dillapidated, depressing, home to hundreds of birds, cobwebs everywehre, broken windows, etc. etc.
Officially, the old rink was closed to everyone. Even the janitors didn't go in there. BUT, lo and behold, there were a bunch of arcade cabinets that had been gathering dust. The rink closed in the 70's, so the cabs were just being stored in there, gathering dust from the early 80's... and then forgotten about.
My brothers and I would sneak into the old rink and try to turn on the old games. Not all of them worked, but some did. We still had to pay, of course. And there were only a few electrical receptacles that worked, so, in order to switch games, we had to constantly plug and unplug them. We had to move some cabinets closer to the receptacles, since the cords didn't reach.
We were kicked out of the old rink a few times, but since we weren't doing anything bad (vandalism) or potentially dangerous, we were left to our own devices.
-
That sounds awesome! An abandoned skating rink with arcade machines! Sounds like the perfect teenage hideout in an 80's movie!

Exactly. It really was awesome, yet depressing. The new rink, well, it was really sterile and managed to suck away your soul. The old rink, and the other rinks I went to, always had a more positive vibe.
All ice rinks, though, have a weird depressing mood to them.
It is one of the things I love about them.

I am floored that Neo Turf Masters is included, of all games. It's a great game but not something you'd expect in any compilation.
I wonder if they will have 480p and 240p modes. 480i sucks ass for these types of games.
-
I think it's lame, that games that already are in SNK collections for PS2, are on this as well. There's already a Fatal Fury Collection, & an Art of Fighting Collection, & Metal Slug Collection, & there's going to be a Samurai Showdown Collection. There will probably be a King of Fighters Collection, but, I don't care so much about that, so I don't mind one of those being in here. All in all though, I'm stoked!
-
I know what you mean PD; I recently bought most of those you were talking about. I am however very excited for this release. Especially since its going to have Neo Turf Masters
-
If only it had Neo Drift Out as well. Also, I'm wondering if Metal Slug really needs to be on there. I swear Metal Slug has more "home versions" than Sonic.

No Blazing Star, no Viewpoint, no Last Blade 2, no Bust-A-Move 2, no Twinkle Star Sprites, no Cyber Lip, no Waku Waku 7, no Neo Bomberman, no Super Spy, no Crossed Swords.
NO INTEREST. [-(

Take note that it says Vol. 1 Who knows what the future holds! I'd say there be a Last Blade Colletion, but, there's only 2, unless you count the NGPC ones. Maybe a World Heroes/Last Blade Collection. Anyways, I think it'd be also neat if that Manji Maru/Far East of Eden fighting game were in a collection!

Well then I have no interest in Vol. 1. [-(

I just hope they make more volumes of these pretty soon. Baseball Stars 2 is a great game to be on this collection. Also, Top Hunter is a great beat-em up title I enjoyed a lot on my Neo CD when I first got it. Most of all Shocktroopers is on there, which alone makes this worth getting. I do agree on it being a little silly a third of the games are either on VC, or the other PS2 collections from SNK Playmore. It seems like they are only going to release Neo Geo titles from what this shows. Let us hope there are unlockable bonus sections like the Genesis and Capcom collection disks in it.

Maybe later on they will.
Still for these games you mention Bust-A-Move 2:Taito,Waku Waku 7:Sunsoft,View Point: Sammy,Blazing Star:Yumekobo,Neo Bomberman:Hudson
Keep in mind snkp would have to make a deal with those companys,to put them on a collection.
The only thing that annoys me about v1 no pre neogeo titles.
I am surpise it's getting shock troopers&neo turf master though.

So am I saying that I mostly enjoy third-party games for the system? Pehaps... :-k

Except for the games by Alpha, these games would not see a release from SNK. Though you can play Waku Waku 7 on that Sunsoft collection thing. :D
That cover is retarded, and duplicate screenshots? Tsk tsk SNK. Oh well, the cover can have a donkey on it for all I care! I mean, it's going to have Shock Troopers. Effing SHOCK TROOPERS! This will mark the first ever port of this game to anything other than the Neo.
-
Wasn't Shock Troopers, either a NG CD exclusive, or a cart exclusive? It sounds familiar.
-
It was certainly an MVS release, I know that much.
-

Neo-Geo cart only. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shock_Troopers
-
Ok, that's what I figured. I seem to recall, when I was still buying NGCD games, that there were a few that weren't on the NGCD, & that name sounded familiar.

Shock Troopers was,MVS only still it didn't stop people making a (conversion) out of it on AES.
Still i think it's great on the collection it gives a chance for fans to play it.
I kind of see shock troopers as a spirital successor to ikari warriors.
Btw if ya wanna see the game in action.

Bummer is that they dropped the Ninja Combat off of the game.
-
DUDE SHOCK TROOPERS That is f'ing awesome. It was mvs release only although there are homade(well done-profesionally of course)AES conversions that go for the usual $200 ballpark range. It sucks that Ninja Commando or Ninja Combat are not on there. But hey they said Vol. 1 right so heres to hoping for a Vol.2. Anb BTW what is this Sunsoft collection thing this I did not know about. MUST HAVE IT
