Jeez, what a horrible f*cking game. Why was this released? This is the worst Disney video game I've ever played. Most of the graphics look like the NES on a bad day. Same goes for the music and sound. Gameplay is boring and monotonous. What a colossal disappointment, especially after everyone has said how this game is so much better than Darkwing Duck. I'd like those people to send me PMs immediately detailing what drugs they take. Darkwing Duck eats Talespin for breakfast, lunch, dinner, then regurgitates it back onto Talespin's mom. Talespin makes Darkwing Duck look like Sapphire. Thank lord this game only cost me $15 for a brand new, sealed copy. I wish I could find a way to seal it back up and put it back on the shelf so there was no danger of it accidentally making it's way back into my Duo ever again. I might actually hate this game more than Genpei Toumaden I. f*ck.
-
why you hate genpei?
-
hahahah , nat. great post. It's that bad, huh? I would agree - the screenshots I saw definitely could be an NES game. Darkwing Duck rocks! :D
-
wow I strongly feel the opposite- though they both are plenty awful. Always felt that DD was the best of the Total Suckfest games - and that TS was probably the worst of the Good-Attempt-Yet-Awful-Failure kind of games- a slightly higher honor than being in Total Suckfest. Lol. More variety maybe? Though I would be in total agreement if you said that the underwater board in TS is among the worst imagineable- Atari gameplay even...
-
I keep getting this game confused with Camp California and Yo Bro. What is it with the TurboGrafx-16 and games with bears?
-
Bears are in Blue Blink as well- another p.o.s... though I hear Camp California's quite the masterpiece =P~
-
p.o.s = ? :oops:
-
Piece Of Shit.
-
Yeah, it's pretty bad. It can be pretty difficult at times, too, due to cheap and shitty design.
Supposedly the 5th level (the one after the original 4 you can select from) has really good graphics, although I sincerely doubt I will ever make it that far.
-
You get to play as a grizzly bear in Night Creatures. 8)
-
eww that's right- looks like if you see a bear in a turbochip game then you might as well chuck that sucker out the window- unless there's bears in parasol stars somewhere? :-k
-

Unfortunately, that was the first one I played. I thought "Hey, an underwater level! Can't go wrong starting here."
Little did I know, little did I know....
-
Well, I still stand by my word, that I think it's an ok game. It deffinitly ain't good, great, or grand, but, it's ok. Graphics? The only stuff I think that looks graphically cool, is maybe the vertical flying squequence...I think. And also that scene with the ....bah, I can't remember the name of the pirates giant air ship, but, there's a cinema with a picture of it, & it looks cool to me. I can't recall anything else being noteworthy graphically. The music is ok, it's kind of fun & Disneyesque.
-
Talespin and Darkwing Duck are coming my way soon, so quit harshing my vibe dudes. :D
Actually, I expect the sucktitude. The price was just too low to pass up, so two shitty games were added to the collection.

I'm one of the local Camp California fans, but I'm also a fan of Blue Blink. Different strokes for different folks, eh?

^ BEAR LOVER
-
We should count the number of games with bears as playable characters in them on each system and see which console is most in love with bears. Japanese games count. I bet the Turbo/PC Engine would win.

You're nuts!
Beyond that, I doubt I'll ever be able to force myself to play the game long enough to experience those heart-stopping graphical wonders.

Did you take advantage of those eBay links I posted?
Either way, if it makes you feel any better, Darkwing Duck is a trillion times better than Talespin. At least you can have half a day of fun.
-
The tables must turn; what drugs are YOU on, nat?
-
I think there is a character limit on these message entry forms.
-
The cartoon was...interesting...

Altered Beast!
Anyway, I agree with Nat. I think Talespin stinks.
The NES version, which is a side scrolling shooter, is a bit more fun. Although to be honest I probably would never have played it if it weren't for my neigbor's strict Seventh Day Adventist mother, who didn't let him have too many games. Talespin was one of his few games so we played it quite a bit. I think I went so far as to borrow it and beat it.
But that was the NES version....
The Turbo Grafx version.... :-& [-X
-
The Turbo Grafx version.... Sick Shame on you
I am not in the least surprised that Tailspin stinks. But like Joe said, it's easy to get this game mixed up with Yo Bro and Camp California.
Jeeze all you guys getting Darkwing Duck, Yo Bro, Camp California, and Tailspin and I'm being talked out of buying Xevious for the PCE. lol  :P
-
Did you take advantage of those eBay links I posted?
Indeed I did; I also have such gems as Gunboat, Falcon, R-Type, Silent Debuggers, and Dragon Spirit coming my way. I'm starting to get a bit nervous, as it's been nearly two weeks since I ordered them, but I suppose that traveling half way 'round the world takes time.
-
I got both my packages from both sellers. MoreDiscsUK took a lot longer to ship my games than SimpleSimon did (2 weeks, plus). I wouldn't worry just yet.
-
I guess you ordered those games from morediscslimited, didn't you? I'm still waiting for my games, too.

Alright, I won't; given MoreDiscsUK feedback, it doesn't surprise me that shipping is so slow. The part that bugs me is that they say that they'll ship via Royal Mail Airmail - Small Packets, which claims delivery in one week. Oh well, the price was right.

Yes sir, I did. How long have you been waiting?
-
I say relax guys. It took them an awful long time to get here, but they did. And they were packaged great and in PRISTINE condition. I'm not complaining.

Ah give the guy A beak Nat.Thats coming from the same guy who thinks Impossamole is A great game.
-
I don't know if I would say Impossamole is great, but, I do love it, despite it's annoying flaws. I used to hate it, but, it grew on me back in the day. And if I'm nuts, well, then, call me Mr. Nutz(I think that was an Amiga/SNES game) :)
-
Guess its all a part of our character makeup- the suckfests and the lunatics who love them. :D =P~ :D
-
I used to watch the show on kcal9 when I was a kid, haha. The game ain't too great though, I was a little dissapointed. Perhaps if I had more patience, I could get into it more :-k
-
Talespin should have been a top down shooter version of Paperboy or it should have been a Defender on crack. I've tried this game and it is a real stinker. Darkwing Duck isn't a lot better though with that annoying ammo limit. Darkwing Duck would be ok with endless basic ammo. That should be a no brainer in a side scrolling action game.

I went from Ghost Manor to Darkwing, so the ammo limit felt like EXTRA AMMO FREE FOR ALL for me!
-
The ammo limit is part of what makes DWD interesting. Prompts you to use a little bit of strategy.

I love this aspect in survival horror games, but I don't like it in action ones I guess. I'm more used to the Rockman style of frantically jumping while rapidly shooting when it comes to action games.
-
Anyone going into Darkwing Duck expecting Rockman/Megaman is sure to be sorely disappointed.

Fixed that for ya.

Did you get your games from MoreDiscs, Necro?
-
Not yet. ](*,)

HAha I just love seeing this thread name on the forum board. Talespin sucks LOL
-
It serves it's purpose as a warning, a caution to the ignorant, the unaware and the innocent.
-
Ah yes...Talespin. Yes it sucks, but does it suck as much as Deep Blue?
-
Ah yes...Talespin. Yes it sucks, but does it suck as much as Deep Blue?
Deep Blue is ten times the game Talespin even dreams of being.
-
Haha yeah I know! I just wanted to see what you'd say about that.
-
I love Deep Blue, so I'm probably the wrong person to ask about that.
-
Wow...I didn't know. I would have to say Deep Blue is better, but for me not by much. I just love shooters more than anything.
-
I don't really know why Deep Blue gets panned so much. It's just different than your typical shooter. The powerup and life system is different, unique. There's strategical merit in memorizing the patterns of the waves of enemies that assault you. Graphically it's great for a game released in 1989, all the sprites are just beautiful. The bosses are huge. It's tough, but I like challenging shooters. I've beaten it, and there's a huge sense of achievement in doing so.
-
Duh.
-
Ah yes...Talespin. Yes it sucks, but does it suck as much as Deep Blue?
I'm inclined to say yes, but I'll hold off until after I've spent some real time with Talespin. Deep Blue is the [JeffAlbertson] worst shooter ever [/JeffAlbertson] on the TG-16, though it's darn pretty and sounds good.
-
I like the graphics in Deep Blue and the music. Too me where it falls apart is the controls. I don't think it plays very well. That is a huge factor for me and a shooter.
-
It plays fine. You guys are just pussies.
-
first off-
TALESPIN RULES!!!!
Second off-
just kidding.
I want to give this Deep Blue a day in court though. I remember always having the box in my hand, turning it over, feeling its weight when shopping for turbografx games back in the day. I think the day is finally near! Seriously though I think what attracts me the most to it is that it is in widescreen- now I don't have a widescreen tv but still- I can dream.
-

Like the saying goes - you are what you eat.
-
Deep Blue is far superior to Tale Spin imo.
-
i do agree with that statement : Talespin sucks. That's why I'm never gonna open my sealed copy of that p.o.s.
Thanks for reminding me, Nat ;)
And by the way, I love the first post of this thread.
-
,I'll go back and play it later tonight. It's been so long, who knows...I might like it.
-
Those damned monkeys just kept bombing me with coconuts :x I couldn't even make it past the first level :(
-

It's been a few months to a year since I've played Talespin, but for some reason i remember that the action revolves around platforming and throwing around tomatoes... not exactly what I think of when I remember the cartoon show...

Unlike Scrooge's pogo jumping around the world and Chip 'N Dale's platforming and throwing around apples...

Touche Tiger!
The difference for me is that with Talespin there is also a shooter for the NES that revolves around flying the plane... Most of my memories about the show tend to revolve around the plane...
Although, in Ducktales' favor, collecting gems and amassing a fortune (haha i remember Scrooge's voice as he said fortune in the cartoon LOL) is a big part of the game.

lol Ducktales!!! oh to be young again....lol

I don't remember the Tailspin plain having any cannons on it in the cartoon.

Those aren't cannon balls they're peeled coconuts! :^o

Heh....
I actually had Talespin back in the day.
And I LIKED it! I found the ending, in particular, to be inspiring.
Of course, I was only about eleven at the time.
-
So Necromancer, what'd you think of Talespin now that you've had a chance to play it?
-
It blows syphilitic goats, to put it nicely; Darkwing Duck is much more playable, not that it doesn't also suck. Maybe if I put more time into 'em, I'd get a little further and actually start enjoying 'em, but that sounds as unlikely as enjoying a prostate exam if it'd just last a bit longer.

Har! Har!
-
I hate to say it, but I actually like Tailspin. Not the greatest game ever, but far from the worst. I'll play it on occasion, er, once I score a copy again, that is.
-
Ok well obviously both of these games suck it hard. It's all about who has more affection for which turd- not counting the truly sane ones who disregard both- or the true maniacs (they're out there!) who actually really dig both of these coiling turds. It's funny- I do have affection for Talespin- but when I start thinking about that underwater level and how Nat played that level first and how long it's taken for him to play it for the first time especially after hearing all this affection for it- I start thinking maaaaan that must have been one sucky experience. =P~
-
Yeah my first message in this thread pretty much sums up my feelings on that.
-
I got that boxed Darkwing Duck but I haven't had a chance to play it. When I do, I'll pull out good ol' TaleSpin and compare them.
Ghost Manor is still beckoning as well! Woohoo!
-
I love how this "Talespin Sucks" discussion is going 5+ pages
-
Ghost Manor rocks.
