Here are described two of my most beloved sound effects/noises in video games, which make the actual already perfect game even perfecter. So to speak, the dot over an i, the final touch to absolut perfection.
Gate of Thunder:
The explosion noise when ever a boss says good bye and turns into ash'n'stuff. This powerful "Boom-Tschhhh-Boom-Tschhhh-Boom-Tschhhh - Stage Clear!"- noise upvalues the game imo trememdous, and makes me so happy everytime from new when ever I play it. I think they thieved it a bit from BttF, when the Delorean switches onto an other time.
Nevertheless, one of the greatest noise in history of video games and beyond of that.
Last Resort: Before the game starts, your ship is flying over the streets of Skyscraper-City and takes off into the dark sky, this accompanied with a powerful whizz-noise. This noise gives me the goosebumps when ever I start the game, no matter how many times I've played it.
Some background -> It was Summer 1992, when I went to Italy for some nice beachy summer vacation with my family. After arriving at the beach and having a first jump into the sea, I was heading up to the street for locating some arcades. The first one found, quickly dashed in for some plays. While checking out the cabs, what did my eyes suddenly have to see? LAST RESORT!!!
So I sat down on the chair and dropped in a coin. Right after that I just experienced the probably hugest goosebumps in my life from any videogames. Still a little bit wet from the sea water (back and bathers), sitting on the chair in that aircooled arcade and gotten blast away from those spheric title noises followed by that whizz-noise when my ship's takin off, I so have never experienced before. A personal great moment in my own history of video games.
What are your favorite noises in video games?
