"Parallel Worlds is a fully hacked version of Zelda 3 (aka A Link to the Past). A majority of the game has been changed. There may be a few rooms which can be said to be similar to some from the original game."

That is pretty awesome though. I have a repro cart and that would go nicely. BTW this game is impossible.

I haven't checked out this one yet (honestly I probably never will) but, having played literally hundreds of hacks over the years, mostly NES hacks, I've found:

-There are very few that are actually complete, original, and show that GOBS of effort went into them
-Most are incomplete (and open about it)
-Of those that are marked complete, 50% of them really don't look it
-Many seem to be the result of a 'let's see how difficult we can make this game' challenge, and not really fun to play, just impossible to get through
-The rest are lame sprite/text hacks involving porn, gore, Nazis, the KKK, or some combination of these

Not hard for me to believe.  Its a damn rom hack, but people will do dumb things.  Im not even sure it will run on a flashcart, since it only runs properly on certain emulators.  Its insane someone would throw money away on something like that, when they could spend it on TURBO!!!!  :)

Essentially you're paying for a piece of artwork and someones time to create it. I doubt it was easy to do so I don't think its strange at all. Doing something like that can't be easy. I see no difference between what he/she is doing and what Sparky does for us with his label reproductions/creations.

Two things here.:)  First, Sparky doesnt charge amounts of money that out of bounds. Secondly, his prints are also for an actual game.  For those that can only find the game without the stickers, ect..

This is basically something someone done with the original artwork, and modified.  Plus, its for a rom that runs on an emulator.  Now, if there was a cart released for it or something, I could see buying this.  But only then.  Its hard to understand why someone would buy this and not actually have a cart to go with it.  Trust me, if I thought I could get a cart for this, I'd consider buying it, but ONLY if the price was right.  This particular rom hack runs weird on certain emulatorsm, and I cant remember which one it runs correctly on.  It was basically designed to run on a certain on though.

Yeah, but it's the SNES homebrew community (which admittedly I don't know a lot about), but it's not the same as PCE community where they can release a homebrew on a "relatively" cheap CD.  It's not likely we will ever see a homebrew HuCard for example either.

If you're going to do a homebrew on SNES this is a pretty cool looking box and manual to go with it.  You're just never going to get a ROM without laying out ton's of cash.  ($1000s??)

Price, yes, high for me too! :)  But to each his own there I guess.

Reproduction carts can be had for $50 or so.

Wow, looks like there are SNES roms.  Do you know if anybody has actually made the casing or do they just buy dozens of copies of Super Mario world and clean of the stickers and reuse?
