Comanche: Maximum Overkill PC
« on: December 07, 2011, 08:52:57 AM »

Anyone else remember this game for the PC?

At the time of its release in 1992 a customer of ours purchased a top spec. PC just to run this game!  I am sure it was a 486DX33, Vesa local bus graphics card, CD drive, 17" Monitor, Soundblaster Pro, 40GB hard drive and 16 ,,,,,, yes 16MB of RAM.  System cost was around £1,400

When I first saw this game it blew me away!

Oh oh! While not that game, I remember playing the demo for Comanche 3 quite a few times. Somehow, I found most enjoyment in crashing the helicopter into things - thought it looked cool when it blew up I guess :S That game looked pretty good, voxels and all.

A bit of topic, but I also remember playing demos of NovaLogic's F-22 & F-16 games  (especially Lightning II). Good times.

Sadly, I don't remember this game. I was too busy playing Dropbox (Dropoff?) and PipeDreams at the time (older PC = budget software = perpetual envy).

Whoa, brings back memories.  I had a friend who had this and we would always hang out at his house and game.
