Gun-Nac...I dunno.  Seems pretty expensive for a paro-shmup, and I'm not usually into those.
Expensive ? Depends what you buy it for nes it can be a little cheaper,as for the famicom that's where it get's a little pricey.Still like most shooters by compile it starts out easy and get's hard towards the end.

Looks pretty basic...

how dare you!

Well all I can go by is the graphics at this point, ya know, though I've heard the gameplay is pretty solid.  Graphically though, it reminds me a lot of Astro Warrior for the SMS...which I just realized is probably a complete rip-off of Star Soldier, right down to the final bosses.  Hm.

Star Soldier is like Astro Warrior, but better.

Has Tiger Heli been mentioned?  I've had a lot of fun playing that on the NES.

Tiger Heli is good but could've been better that is if Micronics wasn't involved.

Cook likes to S.C.A.T. (Natsume).

Well, I for one don't like the word "shmup" in the same way I don't like it when people call the NES "Ness" or the SNES "Sness". And the fact that "shmup" sounds like sounds like something you scrape off your shoe.

What's wrong with "shooter"?

This is one of my biggest pet peeves, too: nesssss and snesssssss. Absolutely irritating.

Cook says "Enn Eee Ess". O, in espanol, "en y es".

Tiger Heli is great, IMHO. Sure, it has flaws, but it is great.

Over here it's never pronounced "enn eee ess", it's "ness" and "sness". Some of the weirdos even call it.. Well. Nes. It's hard to explain, but if you go to google translate and type in "nes" in swedish and ask for a voice sample you'll hear it. It's so butt ugly I might just fall of my chair before this sentence is

I just got back from a week away from the internet and am too blasted lazy to read back through this thread, but did anyone mention Gun.Smoke?  I picked that up while I was away and it is now one of my favorite NES games.  Awesome shooter.  I had vague fond memories of the game from when I was a kid, but those nostalgic remembrances don't always pan out well.  :( This one did.  :)

Yesterday I saw at my local used bookstore a loose copy of Stinger for the NES for $6.  I'd be happy to pick it up and send it your way if you'd like.  As far as Twinbee games goes, it's one of my favorites.  It switches between horizontal and vertical levels, like Salamander.
