Loved playing the original Time Crisis on the Playstation back in the day, and got so good at it that I could beat the arcade version on one credit back in day.  Eventually my old PSX broke though and the new one didn't have the AV ports in the back so I had to buy some weird adapter that I still need to use.

That and Point Blank 3 (check out my avatar) for the PSX were two of my favorites to play with friends around.

Do you happen to know what that adapter is called? "Weird adapter thingie" doesn't help much in Google.

It's an adaptor that takes the screens sync signal directly out of the AV signal, rather than through the console (controller port), to reduce lags (delays).

kinda looks like this:

since the first model PS1 had direct AV output, this adaptor was not required.

Thanks to this great feature of the g-con45, it was one if not the fastest and most precise light gun in history, and made super fast reaction games like point blank even more playable.

Is that even needed? With the AV Cables I just hook the Gun-Con composite adapter inline with composite video. If I am using component I just put it on the green or y line. Either signal should be combined with comp-sync.

It is needed if you don't use composite. I used it to hook my PS2 up with component cables, while still keeping Guncon compatibility.

*edit* I found one on ebay for $4.00 shipped. Awesome!

Just try and hook up the guncon or guncon2 between the component video green/y wire and the tv it definitely works. This is how I play all guncon games on my ps2. The only way you may need that thing is if your guncon2 did not come with the patch/splitter cable http://www.ecrater.com/p/13833178/multi-cable-cord-with-guncon-2-light.

Guncon 1 works perfectly fine with my PS2 hooked to the green component video line. I play Time Crisis 1 and Elemental Gearbolt on it all the time with my CRTs.

Too bad my Justifier doesn't work too well with my S-video modded Genesis on my older 2003 HD Toshiba CRT. It works fine with my 2003 SD Sony Trinitron CRT. I only play Snatcher on my Sega CD once a year, so it is no big deal really. I have Lethal Enforcers 1 and 2 for Sega CD also. I much rather hunt down the PS1 arcade port collection and get a gun for it.

Now that I have a PS3 I am seriously considering buying TC4 and maybe even some of the PS2 lightgun games. I guess I have to get the PS Move to play House of The Dead 3 on my PS3?

I love point Blank and Time Crisis.

I have a "Real Arcade gun" http://web.cs.wpi.edu/~gogo/ps2_io/realarcade-superjolt.htm which is pretty inaccurate, but I  loved the recoil of Point Blank in the arcade.  Plan was to take apart a G-con 2 and see if I could stuff the innards into the Real Arcade gun, but I sheared the last screw when I was taking it apart.

But Yeah, I got my CRT specifically for playing lightgun games.

SNK: I'd recommend just getting the move and a gun attachment and Time Crisis Razing Storm, it has TC4 in it as well. plus, everything on the system that isn't TC4 works with the Move instead of the Guncon 3. Personally, I use the official Sharpshooter.

I never knew about plugging the Guncon into the component cable, but it would be a PITA anyway. I got the adapter, and it works great, but boy is Time Crisis 1 PSX ugly! I think that's why I mostly played Crisis Zone instead.

I remember seeing that gun or one like it before. Isn't there a pedal attachment that hooks between the Guncon and the console? I remember seeing one a long time ago, but not entirely sure. I would love to somehow just have the pedal to hook up to the Guncon 1 (and 2 when I get one). Really comes in handy for the time crisis games. I seriously can't stand using a one handed handgun with my left hand resting on the front to use the button. It just feels awkward and tiresome.

I figured TC4 and Razing Storm are the only games that would support the Guncon 3. The Sharpshooter resembles an MP5 sub machine-gun. Doesn't the time crisis games use semi auto handguns in-game primarily? If so, what would make a good handgun attachment for the PS Move?

Eish, here goes a $160 just to get all of this stuff, lol.

Razing Storm uses a machine gun in the arcade, so the sharpshooter is fitting. The other official Move gun works like a pistol, but I think it might be a bit odd with TC4 since iyou would need to press a button ton top of the controller to duck.

Also, on ebay when I searched for the video adapter there were plenty of unofficial foot pedals on ebay pretty cheap. I thought about picking one up myself. I also remember people using DDR mats back in the day.

I hear you there, but think of it as stamina training workout for your arms!  Plus having the second hand to steady the gun always made me much more accurate in the long rung, and I'd still use both hands on the gun when I played at the arcade because I was so used to that style at home!

Yup, mine does have a pedal, I find it annoying though - it isn't fixed to anything.  I like the button on the bottom of the G-con 2, as I grip my gun the way cops are trained to in the US.  I guess a lot of people do - one hand supporting the butt of the gun.

Also, it's really good for increased accuracy, I kick everyones ass on all the mini-game target practice stuff on Time Crisis (2?)
