Wow, that is awesome!  I didn't even know that game existed.

Was that game made exclusively for an event, or was it in Japanese arcades?

I wonder where the hardware to run that game is sitting at now.

It was played only at Hudson's summer Caravan events in Japan. It never came out to arcades. It used some custom NEC PC hardware, some fancy HD equipment and a Plasma screen costing around $80,000.  The whole setup cost over a million dollars. Outrageous huh?

There are threads all over the place just Google Hi-Ten Bomberman.

only for sake of Hudson Soft, and they rename the game entirely. As a rule of porting you have to rename a videogame. Calling it "Hi-Ten" Bomberman is depressing knowning it is not a Hudson system at all.

Yet from everything I've read and seen, Hi-Ten Bomberman was the best version of the game ever made.  Certainly current-gen HD consoles could handle it fine, and it would be fun as hell, IMHO.

Have you ever read anything by anyone who actually played it, or even saw it in person?

I'm sure its great, but I'm also pretty sure that Bomberman '94 and Bomberman SS would still be more fun.

As for where/what it was, I'm pretty sure it was only seen at Caravan events. It probably only had versus mode and probbaly even only one screen.

Basically, from what I've seen, it basically looks like the "Wide" map from Bomberman SS only high enough res to actually see WTF is going on. IMO the Wide map in SS is only fun for a while anyway. The best time is in the 8 player matches on smaller maps.

There were definitely lots of stages. The game had been properly tested and bug checked. It was very polished, lots of power ups and a couple of things that were (at that time) new to the series.

It would be PERFECT for play on 360 Live Arcade.

I am emailing someone about it right now.

And to reiterate, it was running on a PC, which means somewhere, someone has it. The motherlode.

That's why I carry around 4 GBA's and a copy of Bomberman tournament.  You never know when you're gonna need a game of 4-player bomberman.

We should start an email campaign to Konami, BEGGING for Hi-Ten's resurrection and release, under whatever name they choose.

Damnit.

I think we should start a burn all Konomi videogames not featuring staff of  Hudson Soft. Then we should do it until Konomi, brings back Hudson Soft. Then Hudson Soft releases Hi-ten bomberman.

Then do it in public places ( of course we ask for permission to burn Konomi stuff on Camera at stores, super markets, and city hall ). Even put up signs that say "shows hudson soft big" and Konomi with a big
no smoking type sign.
