General going rate for a SFC complete
« on: May 23, 2012, 11:56:00 AM »
SO i may be purchasing a super famicom complete with the box, manual, 2 controllers, power supply, av cable, s-video cable. Me and the guy are trying to work out a deal. I really have no idea what this things go for. Do you guys have any info on this?

Also this isn't one of those threads to try and find a price for something so i can later sell it. I'm buying it to use and to add to my collection

Here is the deal. The GBA bundle includes LOZ ages and seasons, metroid 2, wario land and a few other games.

Very nice Super Famicom system with the box, manual, 2 controllers, power supply, av cable, s-video cable. - $100
- Akumajo Dracula XX / Castlevania Dracula X(cart only) - $38
- GBA bundle - $60
- GC Bundle - $28
- Shipping - $40 (Expedited Parcel USA with tracking number and full insurance, very well packed)
Total: $100 + $38 + $60 + $28 + $40 = $266. If you take everything, I'll throw in that $20 Casltevania 4 for free, how about that ?

Lmk

Thanks !

$50-$200 shipped usually. The same for an incomplete SFC.

$10.  SFC has to be the most common console in Japan.  You can trip over the damn things.

Modding the system probably makes more sense, but you can also mod the cartridges.  I've never done it myself, but I won a couple Super Famicom shmups off ebay not too long ago, and when they arrived they had little areas drilled out of the carts to fit in an unmodified SNES.  Neat.  I already had a converter (that I paid a small fortune for back when Street Fighter II was released in Japan) which I was planning on using.  Only recently did I find out it's just a couple of small tabs that separates the different regions.

I don't own an SFC. I'll admit that the SFC is what I remember drooling over pictures of in Nintendo Power mags when I was a kid, and a couple years back I wanted one, but ended up skipping it. If it was easy to play US carts on it, I would have one because it's unique and looks way cooler than the US SNES.

But the SNES mod to let you play SFC carts takes just a couple minutes and is free. And pretty much invisible.

And, were there any JP-only Castlevania games? I only know of SC4 and XX both of which were released in the US.

Only those two.  But 4 was censored in the USA.  The "green slime" level is a total "red blood" level in the JP version.

That's basically right, but even here you have to put some more cash on the counter to get a CIB system with s-Vid cable. hell even lose sfc pads (non junk) going for 10 bucks with ease.

Exactly.  Take a sturdy pair of needle-nose, grab those pesky grey tabs that sit at the bottom of the cart slot, in the rear.  Thats where the grooves on the SNES carts sit down on.  Work the tabs back and forth, and they break off.  Its that simple.  You dont even have to take it apart.
