Great idea esteban!  I looked into going by train and it looks like round trip the train ride would only cost $217 (from Fayetteville, NC).  I might be able to swing this after all.

I see there's a little motel within walking distance to the Galloping Ghost that looks to be only $43/night.  And a bus ride from the train station to the motel is only $2.25.  Very tempting.

Plus, to be honest, I don't mind the train. I can read/work/relax with electronic devices. As long as I have a beverage and snack, I'm happy .

You might be hitting Penn Station NYC if you take the train? HA!

I wonder if the train passes through Buffalo, NY...

I haven't checked yet. BUT IF I GO, YOU MUST GO .

We'll make the train stop in Buffalo. That's Southern Canada.

we need a cali meet

im in, im near long beach, torrance, LAX area. even if in my inlaws garage on the 74 inch tv. im down.

Dude! I used to live in Southern California... Long Beach (Tremont Street and ???) and Lakewood were the closest to you. I also lived a bunch of other places (Riverside, Moreno Valley, Irvine, etc.) .

I used to walk to 2nd street and go to the Lebanese restaurant all the time.

August - GENCON -Indianapolis (HUGE E-Game arena, looking to contribute to the retro section in 2013!)
A...

I'm actually headed down to Gen Con tomorrow.  I always thought that would be a great place for a vintage gaming event.  Is retro gaming going on this year?

Yea, check out the E-Game arena.  Lots of fun!  They have a row of old consoles - NES/SNES/GENS/NEO/3DO/Saturn and other stuff... I think Jag maybe?  I talked with some of the guys that ran it on the gencon forums, and they were excited about bringing more retro/rarez stuff.  So we could see some turbob in 2013.  If you do happen to check it out this year, let me know if they have expanded it at all.  :)

Man I wish these things were closer.  Midway to Brookfield is only 18 minutes, but the cost of the flight + hotel for one night kills my chances.  ](*,)

Check that price again through HOTWIRE.com

They usually save us a butt ton of moneys on trips.  :D

SignofZeta: What a quintessentially PCEFX thread. Someone complains about nothing, multiple Bible-length posts discussing who's a bigger a$$hole follow. You're both pretty big a$$holes. Let's call it a tie.

Not on Facebook, but tentatively I'm interested in going.  Good chance to talk MGC before or after the event as well.  ;)

Later.

As much as I want to make it to this, it doesn't look to be in the cards this time around.  I just started a new job and they're gonna need me sticking around for a awhile.  I'm still going to try to plan a meetup in the NC area sometime this Fall, though.  Maybe sometime in November.  Hopefully I'll have some details tomorrow.

Sadly, I won't be able to make this, either. I can't take the time off from work.
