I have a psp go and use it mainly for emulation.

NES, TG16 and Genesis work wonderfully. Neogeo works very well for most games. GBA emulation is spot on for most games.

SNES runs like shit :(

Still worth it though. I've got a cradle with mine, component video out and use a ps3 controller with it.

The only issue is that when you're playing a game using video-out the picture only takes up about 3/4 of the screen. This can be fixed by either (1) paying extra for a convertor (2) using a Sony PS3 3D display as the monitor. I use the latter as it's a nice monitor that I got cheap.

I'm jealous!  I meant to grab one of those 3D tvs when they were on clearance for like $100 but they were all out of stock here.

Snes9x I believe. I need to skip frames like crazy for it to play, but then its very choppy because of all the skipped frames

That's what I paid for mine. I love the fact that its got a PSP zoom mode. Makes PSP games full screen :)

I sometimes see them used cheap. Keep your eyes open.

I was also thinking about a PSP Go. I was ok with the download-only approach since I don't have any PSP games to begin with. Someone said they saw some for $40-50? That sounds pretty legit! (especially considering that Neo Geo X thing that's still stuck at $100.)

I'd do a PSP 3000 instead.  Not a big fan of the Go.

You can still easily boot CFW on it, use it for whatever you'd like, and have access to a few excellent UMD only games that can't be played on any other system.

or you can go the go route, still boot CFW with ease, use it for whatever you'd like, and then run isos of the umd only games that can't be played on any other system.

seriously, the bluetooth controller  + docking station route is the way to go

...but if you have CFW you don't need to worry if it was dl only or UMD only.  So really it just depends on what model you personally prefer.  If you are planning on buying UMD's I would do what others mentioned and get a psp 3000.  If you plan on being a dirty pirate then just go with whatever system you mainly prefer.  :D

Even if you're gonna buy UMDs, go with CFW and isos for less load times and better battery life.

Yargh?

so these things are pretty inexpensive on the ebays, the local used game places are charging WAY too much, even when calculating shipping costs. That's pretty rare.

I'm not a fan of it at all.  It's got around 2 frames of input lag.  The most important thing in a gaming display and Sony absolutely dropped the ball with their Playstation brand monitor.

I had heard that they were really unreliable; even that many were DOA.
is this true?
