I've only ever seen this one available from repro sites... I think it was only officially released in Japan.

Yes it was a Japan only release. Apparently it's very expensive.

Moon Crystal is a very good game, with good music, great graphics, and gameplay (as you discovered) like a cross between PoP and Ys III (later stages include a castle to explore, etc).  Better get used to the controls, as in later stages you'll have to jump on moving platforms, gears, etc, as I recall.

It was only released in japan and a few years ago it got a fan translation.There sites that sell reproductions of it to.

It does seem a bit odd to be a video game fan and not play the most prolific system of the era.  How do you know something is the best, without trying the other stuff?

Yeah, that sounds pretty awesome.  I haven't seen synbiosfan around for a bit actually.
