Bomberman post TG16: the Best and the Rest
« on: October 18, 2013, 12:07:17 PM »
I brought a super multitap and games to a friend's birthday last night and we spent hours playing Super Bomberman 2, Super Bomberman 5, and Bomberman 64 (2001). It was the first time I'd played the latter two extensively and I've got to say SB5 is the best of the bunch: insane action, tons of powerups, a fifth player, and postmortem bombing from the sidelines really keeps the party going. Bomberman 64 2001 paled in comparison, though having Panic Bomberman on the same cart is a nice bonus.

I've never played Super Bomberman 3 or 4, are they worth checking out if I already own 2 & 5? Posts about other games also welcome.

All I have to say is Saturn Bomberman is by far my favorite, although I have yet to try to get 10 people to come over and play all at once (most I had was 8) it was still pretty awesome.

I don't think I have a multi-player tap for my SNES/SFC. I haven't played 3+ matches since the 90's. Sounds like I need to remedy this situation...

So yeah. Everyone needs to go buy Super Bomberman 5. Better than any other Bomberman on the SNES, N64, or PCE.

Yup outside of the tg-16/pce my faves are  Saturn bomber man which might just be the best bomberman game ever with its amazing music and game modes and 10 player battles even with you vs 9 npcs.   Also really like the irem arcade game.

Most of my Bomberman experience is with 93 & 94 but I liked the one for Sega Dreamcast. I wasn't even aware that there was one for the 64.

Another vote for SS B-man. When we run it at cons(10 player), there is never an empty seat all weekend.

Doesn't it have only single screen maps, no scrolling?  No thanks.
