If you guys want to repair your broken N64 control sticks, feel free to have a look at this thread:
N64 Stick Converter kit (PCB + Potentiometer)
This is essentially a kit that enhances the GameCube-style N64 replacement control sticks found on Ebay.

1. You need one of these from the bay. Seperate the housing, take the plastic stick and cut off the wires. Throw the crappy PCB and potentiometer in the bin.

2. These are the electronics from the kit (PCB with improved chip and improved potentiometer). Combine these parts with the housing, wires and plastic stick.

3. Profit!

I tried this by myself and can happily confirm the stick feels great and plays superior in GoldenEye, Super Mario 64 and many more N64 games. From there you'll never ever want to go back to the original control stick or even the Hori Mini Pad 64.

Personally, I feel the n64 era was Nintendo's best software output.
This is a shocking statement!

I never did like the N64.  Aside from a few games this was one of the consoles that I regretted purchasing new.
It hasn't dated very well either, in my opinion. If you want to show off a retro system don't pick this one.

I chose the 64 that generation too, and really regretted it. I just recently sold it.

I didn't like it back then, and I certainly don't care for it today.

Was excited to get it then found out did not support scart and the composite/rf was terrible. Ended up giving it away.

I had lots of fun with Mario Kart. And RARE had some neat stuff (not perfect, but intriguing...I forgot the name of the game. Whatever.)

These 2 and Yoshi's Story...I really enjoyed Yoshi's Story. There really is a small library of very god games on it and a lot of trash that needs to be skipped over.

Disappointed at least what i think of the N64 id rather play the gamecube over it.Beside it being a cursed console the N64 is what drove away third party support

I never really thought about this, but you are right that Nintendo's struggles in later generations can really be attributed to the N64's decision to stick with cartridges.  Once these developers were scared away in the N64 era by the cost of cartridges and publishing on the system, they never went back when Nintendo righted that mistake.

Just an example,  we still haven't had a proper next gen Final Fantasy game on a Nintendo console! Not counting the gba/ds remakes of course.
