Ouya is a retarded joke.

So we won't be seeing Pyramid Plunger or Insanity coming out on it then?  :*(

To über-cool devs, I'm sure it's a joke. To me, a dude who likes old games n shit (and that retro style) it works for me.

And Ark, you develop for PCE, you are uber cool in my book

Well, after chatt'n with Dragonmaster Dan I decided to track down a guy on CL and pick one up.

$60 just bare console, all hookups and one controller.  I'll probably catch some free time to try it out.  Just reading about some of the games that are sound pretty good I made a queue of games to try:
heroes of Loot
Towerfall (I've actually played this and quite enjoyed it!)
Dubwars
Ravensword
SKH Resurrection

Any others that I should look for?

I understand the need for emulators, but before I just turn this into an emu box, I'd like to give some of the current product a fair shake.  :)

I bought Final Fantasy III and Sonic CD on it. Final Fantasy III is the 3D remake, and Sonic CD has the Japanese music on it. Two games I already own other versions of, but well worth the money (Final Fantasy was on sale when I bought it though, not sure the regular price).

You can buy a dual core android tv stick and Ipega blue tooth controller for roughly $60 brand new and do the same thing as the ouya. I have this very setup going at my house and get any game i want from the google play store. Mikes right, the Ouya is a cheap piece junk.

6 days later and I'm really happy we picked it up.

My favorite Ouya games at this point are
Hero of Many ($3.99)
and
Ultionus

The Emulation capabilities are a HUGE step up from what I was using with the Xbox. Recognizing Wii and PS3 controllers just by syncing!  XBMC and it's plugins are totally fantastic.  I'm very happy with the $60 I dropped on this even if it is just a mild distraction.  :)

The Ouya is quad core and a bit more powerful than the 50-60 TV sticks. You can also connect USB devices to it, I'd rather have the Ouya at the same price point.

Where you buy one for $60.00 ? Even though it's dead i thought about buying one for emulation.

It's not "dead". It's more of a situation where they're shifting their focus to selling Ouya as a platform rather than continuing the hardware line. The original unit is still in manufacture, it's just unlikely that the plans for an annual new Ouya with gradual hardware improvements will come to fruition.

Current website updates have new releases slated for May of 2015, so I guess we can expect support for at least another year.

Also, I got it off Craigslist.  If you're interested I found another one locally for $65 +tax at a pawn shop.  I could snag it and send it to ya.
