sorry, never could get into any earthwurms and its silly humor.

The humor alone ruins Earthworm Jim games for me as well.
What you have no funny bone !? Shame on you

yeah, exacly that kind of humor and style has absolutely no positive effect on me, and let me colder than a bucket full of ice cubes.
Man that is ice cold then

Late to the party, tl;dr.

My recommendations go like this:

Sonic 1 & 2
Tin Head
Shining In The Darkness
Phantasy Star IV
Jewel Master
Ecco
Castle Of Illusion
Golden Axe
Columns
Midnight Resistance
any Shinobi game

and... that's about it. I was never a huge Sega fan.

I would say if you had a 32X you could take your gameplay up a notch with these games:

MK2 (best most complete port outside of Dos or emulation)
Primal Rage (best port between it, Snes, and Genesis, looks great, plays great even if based off ver. 1.7)
Virtua Fighter (better then Saturn port)
Virtua Racing Deluxe ( personal preference, like this port more then the Genesis and Saturn versions also)
Space Harrier
AfterBurner
Tempo
Knuckles Chaotix (I'm not a fan of this one personally, but other Sonic fans and others seem to swear by it)
Cyber Brawl/Cosmic Carnage (amazing soundtrack, good gameplay, and cool characters when run in JP mode)
T-Mek (better then the buggy Dos port)
Wrestlemania The Arcade Game (best port outside of Dos)
Shadow Squadron
Star Wars Arcade
Doom (better then Snes port easily)
Metal Head
Blackthorne
Kolibri (another one I didn't care for personally but others seem to love)
NBA Jam Tournament Edition
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy
Zaxxon's Motherbase 2000 (good game if you like Viewpoint. If you hated Viewpoint then ignore this one)

Is MK2 on 32X actually better than the Saturn port?  I have it on Saturn but never played the 32X version.

Another Genesis game I forgot that I really liked is Comix Zone.

Yeah its much better then the Saturn port. The Saturn port looks great in still shots, but in practice it is a bit of a mess in places. The initial matches contain loading for a brief second when you do a move. The music is PCM handled by the Saturns audio chip instead of being cd audio, and it is subpar (a bit of a insult to the Saturns audio chip). Also, tons of voice samples are missing. There are a couple other minor issues also, but those are the main ones that hurt the game. Some of those issues carrier over to the import PS1 version also.

The 32X version on the other hand has a good soundtrack, most of the voice samples, good sound fx, great control, etc.

the Genny was my second console, I wasnt going to get one, but then I played Sonic, then thats when I knew I had to get a Genesis.

Games I'm most fond:

Sonic 3
Sonic
Streets of Rages
TMNT
The Flintstones
Tiny toons
Fifa 96
TSB II

+1 fifa 96 just run down the side of the pitch and shoot near the end. A goal every time!

Wow Prof, I didn't know you were such a big 32x fan.

When I was a teen I originally got one around mid 1995. Not a mega fan of it, but I'd easily put its game library up against something like the Atari Jaguar any day of the week. It was a good add on, and it got some good games in its fairly short life span. I was more then happy to get one again, s-video mod it and start enjoying some proper MK2 and Virtua Fighter again.

Lol, I have not seen anyone mention Phar-Mor in years. We had one that closed up in the early 90s. They had a video rental in there that I got a lot of nice Nes games from before they closed the store.

thought this was known - they didn't do this because it'd take the joy out of a clean cut otherwise  :-"

If something as mundane as cutting tabs is what you classify a "joy", then you and i wouldnt be very good friends.
