You mean in the very first action sequence? Just remember where they are, no worries. Also, in the large cave (the second part of the sequence), you can exploit the infinitely-appearing ants at the bottom to build up levels.

Bubbles.  If a shmup has a bubble level, those bubbles get me every time.  Who knew bubbles were so violent?
