Yeah pricecharting is a mixed blessing.  It's nice to have an idea what something is worth, but I'm pretty sure it is contributing to gradual rise in the value of games in general.  The fact that the site is run by a person who is a professional collector and reseller is a bit of conflict of interest I feel.

Yarr, there's far too many peeps that look at the highest price something sold for and using that as the baseline for value.

Just out of curiosity (and since I'm dumb), what's the deal with Europe?

Traditionally Europeans have always been willing to pay more, mostly due to ignorance.

There must be a lot of research backing up this affirmation.

Around here the game stores use price charting which is BS. I wish that site would go away. There's really no good deals to be had anymore unless you get lucky at a flea market or yard sale. Hell even goodwill is funneling their gaming goods to their own auction site, and retro game stores.

Let me guess...Software Seconds!  That place went to shit years ago.  It was the place I used to get import games in the mid 90's to late 2000's.  Even bought my import Dreamcast there 2 weeks after launch.  Was only $350 with Sonic Adventure and Virtua Fighter 3tb.  Was a sweet deal for that time.  Now he still has shit that has never sold since I was in college.  Most of the time you have to ask about prices, then he goes to his little computer and looks up a price.  LOL I bought Alien Soldier from him for $15 back in 2006.  That was before all the price charting.  Mike used to be the owner but he let the mustache guy basically take it over for the past 8 years or so.  Apparently there is another game store on Harbison Blvd?  I heard it was a bit better.  What is the name of the place?

It would be interesting to see this research.

Traditionally Europeans have always been willing to pay more, mostly due to ignorance.

Being european i would say the problem europe has had from the 8 bit days upto now is that there is a lot of games/systems that were never released here or are of a low print run, different countrys in europe had exclusives over others its a complete mess here. Nintendo were really bad for it but all are guilty of it.

European gamers create a knock on effect because pal games can be very expensive (ebay a snes pal cib megaman x3 for example) so myself for example will look elsewhere for a copy and if they see a saving they will buy it because its cheaper than the pal copy even though they could still be paying much more than the game is worth. Thats where the knock on begins.
