Marvelous just aquired most of Data Easts library

IIRC, all Data East(G-mode) games for the Turbo were pulled from the Virtual Console awhile back.  Maybe we'll see a return of those games in some form, remakes?  New Bloody Wolf perhaps! :D

Anything is possible. Data East had some real classics. I wish they would have ported more of the arcade titles to the Turbo/PCE. If only playing ports of Robocop, Karnov, Bad Dudes, Fighter's History, Heavy Barrel, Night Slashers, or Psycho-Nics would have happened. :(

Bloody Wolf, Spin Master and Chelnov are classics.

What was Data East's downfall?

I don't know why the first game I think of when I hear Data East, is still Karate Champ.

This game was everywhere, in my experience. Tons of arcade cabs, not just in arcades, but ice/roller skating rinks, delis, etc. Etc.

I was much more interested in other games, and I always felt that Karate Champ was filling up space that should have belonged to a "good game" (I watched the demo screen a lot, though, when I was bored).

It was everywhere (even showing up in the movie Bloodsport, what a classic).  I played my fair share of it on the NES also.

I would've liked a PCE Cobra Command, and Kid Niki

Karnov, Bad Dudes, & Kid Niki for sure.  Though, it's a bummer that there's not much music in Karnov & Kid Niki.  However, if Bonknuts ever wanted to do a Turbo port, I'd try to find a work around.  I forget who suggested it, but with Karnov, I could maybe make my own versions of some of the tunes from Karnov's Revenge.  For Kid Niki, maybe take a tune or 2 from the "sequals".

Psycho-Nics Oscar will always be one of my favorites.

PCE needs some Bad Dudes. That'd be boss.

What was Data East's downfall?

That weird transition from 16-bit sprites to 32/64-bit polygons. Sunsoft, Jaleco, Data East and many others couldn't hang with the awesome Boob Raider, Turok's, Crash Bandicoot's and Bubsy 3D's of the world.
