The problem with the stick set up Arkhan is that they started to speed up the pace of the game a bit too much by introducing faster mechs. I'm honestly not sure how well it would play with two sticks now, because you'd probably get outpaced by the smaller faster light mech players using normal keyboard and mouse setups for faster reaction times.
Players complained about this kind of stuff because people were starting to feel like it was more like Quake 3 and less like a mech game, but the developers wouldn't listen. The larger mechs were being made irrelevant except in certain choke points due to the unbalance, making the game kind of crappy depending on what mech you wanted to play.
Just another case of devs making the game they want to play, not the game the customers want to play. I am hoping that things will change for the better with the new owners of the game taking over. Only time will tell. There is hope at least.
