I try not to list what others have.  Other games that I would highly recommend:

Alien Storm (Golden Axe with Aliens)
Space Invaders 90/91 - Shooter
Last Battle/Hakuto no Ken - Action
Ghostbusters  - Platformer
Sword of Vermillion - Dungeon Crawler/RPG
Decap Attack - Platformer
Dynamite Headdy - Action/Platformer
Valis III - Action Platformer (not as good as the Turbo version, but has some better backgrounds and worth playing)

Elemental Master - Shooter
Sagaia/Darius II - Shooter
The Adventures of Batman and Robin - Action Platformer (great music and some cool raster effects)
Trouble Shooter/Battle Mania - Shooter
Battle Mania Daiginjo - Shooter (Trouble shooter sequel and Japanese only)
Ristar Action Platformer
Quack Attack Action Platformer (awesome graphics)
Gynoug/Wings of War - Shooter
Jewel Master - Action

Now Landstalker on the other hand is a true classic.
Yeh agree, this was an excellent game.

edit: a game I haven't seen mentioned that I quite enjoyed was Twinkle Tale, not as good as the amazing Kiki KaiKai on the Super Famicom but still a good game.

Nailed it [emoji4]

Ha, thanks.

Same Toymachine from Gametz? I am the same Gypsy of course. Your complete turbo library was awesome while it lasted. ^_^
There's another me running around the internet!? [emoji32]  Grrrrrrrrrr.... Thought I was the only one lol

This is my only gaming haunt. I have an account at neo-geo but I'm not active there. Its way too elitist for my tastes. This place is much friendlier, with really honest and generous folks. There's a good sense of humor here as well, and I like that. Even though it goes over my head sometimes [emoji38]

thank you to all.   I've played only a handful of these games so I am looking forward to playing a lot of these.
NW: Hey, I made it on this psycho's Enemies' List, how about that ?? ;)

BT: Look at how the fake SFII' carts instantly sold out and were immediately listed on eBay before the flippers even took possession. Look at Nintendo's overpriced bricks. Look at the typical forum discussions elsewhere.

You can't tell most retro gamers anything!

Streets of Rage 2
Aladdin
Castle of Illusion
Boogerman: A Pick and Flick Adventure
Captain America and the Avengers

LOL!  Almost everyone has mentioned Streets of Rage 2.   One of the best on the Genesis and my personal favorite.

It's probably my personal favorite cartridge.

I do think the Sega CD has more "elite" quality games than the Genesis itself. One game a few people mentioned I completely forgot was Aladdin. Genesis Aladdin is absolutely stellar and would have been in my top ten had I remembered it.

Now Landstalker on the other hand is a true classic. It's a shame that Climax/Matrix wouldn't be able to make a game as good as Landstalker until they made Alundra, but two bona fide classics is pretty good for a small-ish studio.
Landstalker is a gem on the genesis.Though i wouldn't call it perfect due to it's isometric view,it did make platforming tricky.I was able to complete that game a few years ago finally thanks to a let's play id watched.Makes me wish the game had gotten a sequel due to it's ending.Sure there were spin offs such as ladystalker and it's spiritual successor alundra but that's it.Then the game was gonna get a remake for the psp but it became vaporware.

I was so excited when I saw that quick video clip of one of the towns.  Sucks it was never to be a reality.  It really could've been a great game.

Difficult platforming and hard puzzles are what make the game so good in my view. Most of the platforming, while difficult, is straightforward once you understand the engine a little bit (though there are some intentionally misleading spots - I believe the game engine was called the Illusion Engine or something!).

The split-second timing and execution of the puzzles in the game put Landstalker in a league of its own when it comes to puzzles - far outstripping Zelda's "light the torch" variety (and don't get me wrong, I love Zelda games).

Light Crusader is similar, and unfortunately overlooked for not being "Treasure enough" for a Treasure game. It's not as good as Landstalker but a very good game in its own right.

I could not get into Landstalker.  I am not a fan of games with isometric view.  It was a good attempt at 3d for the times but just make it so tedious to navigate in my opinion.
