NO WA-WA-WA-WA-WIRES?!

Just gonna say though: Freedom Stick sounds like an American flag themed sex toy.

Crappy advert for a crappy stick, assuming it's functionally similar to the PCE one.

I'll never forget the day I learned that the venerable NES ADVANTAGE joystick was not designed/made by Nintendo, but rather ASCII

My mind was blown.
And then I saw that ASCII released the same damn stick for other consoles.

We US gamers were so sheltered in the 80's....that's what happens when all your gaming news came from monthly mags like EGM and Gamepro

That was alright with me.  If I had any idea what I was missing out on back then I'd be pissed.

ASCII was a great company IMO. Almost a modern day Working Designs, always bringing weird and quirky games to the US, like Echo Night, Clock Tower, Disaster Report (under Agetec), King's Field...

I remember that there was an ad for their one-handed controller in the manual of one of their games... always wanted one. Had no idea the advantage was their creation, thanks for the info SuperGrafx.

Ha! I knew, in principle, we were missing out on stuff, but the details were scant.

I concur—if I knew the full DETAILS about what was in Japan back in the 80's...

Oh
My
God

Also, I didn't know ASCII made the NES Advantage until the last 10-15 years.

Their controllers outside of the Super Advantage have been excellent in my experience.

I agree.  I have the ASCII SNES Controller with the turbos on it and it is pretty much what I always use to play stuff.

I can't find the picture of this, but one day chop5 came over to my house and we wound up refurbishing/repairing some SNES ASCII pads. And there was a lot of them. The one problem I guess with the SNES ASCII pad is that the Select and Start button inserts seem to consistently get gunked up and require extensive cleaning, or sanding on the magnetic strip to work right. But once they do, there's no better SNES pad.

Yes I was gifted ASCII pads by a Software ECT. employee who was super nice, he insisted I try them as a kid and I never stopped using it. I have been trying to get 3 more so when we play 5 player games I don't have an unfair advantage. I love the ASCII pads on SNES, I hate using anything else.
