got a MV-1fz...trying hard to make it work
« on: August 04, 2015, 03:03:16 AM »
Hi everyone :)

i recently came upon a deal to get a non-tested MV-1fz.
i already had many of the stuff needed to make it work. (well i think)
but i cant even get a video signal.

here's what i use.
Mv-1fz
138-in-1 cart with pcb thing..
vogatek IV supergun
atx PSU 600w.
scart cable + scart/hdmi box

when i plug a jack plug into the headphone im not hearing anything.
and no video is being shown...even when no game in  :-s

but all lights are on when i start it up.
surely something is off that i dont understand.. anyone had something similar happening ?

Have you tested other games with the Vogatek? Skip the 138 for now and focus on just the MVS. Without a cart you should get a cross hatch.

got nothing...someone told me it could that my scart box cant upscale 59hz
i think my scart cable could be a problem too since i dont recall having that cable...maybe it was a defective one (but if it was i would have trashed it..so..not sure yet)

but for now. no video when everything is powered  :-k

...a non-tested MV-1fz.

Translation: Broke as hell.

I'm assuming you have no other JAMMA boards to try?

nope i dont :)

like ive said, im not too sure since everything seems at the right place.
lights are on.
i hear the system being powered.

i noticed the screen flickering after 4-5 sec...
as if its about to have something being shown...
but then it stays black.

thats why im not sure if its
-cable not being good.
-scart/hdmi box not being able to display correctly.
-my setup being shity as hell, i should just trash everything and go buy a damn cabinet ¬¬
( i like last option but ze wife is against it ....for now.. so i have to find a way to make this works lol)

I wouldn't go assuming your set up is broken till you get another board that isn't "untested" to try it with. You can get like an Aerofighters PCB for $40

ok ill ask a friend that will come next week to bring his board
that way i can test if supergun or  even the cart has problems

if not ill know that the board has something.
maybe i should check if the chip is correctly socketed

If you bought an "untested" pcb off ebay you bought a broken board. If the seller sells other arcade stuff they are perfectly capable of testing a pcb

Any pics of this board?  Any way you can just output scart properly without up-converting?  The 138 in one probably just boots to a home screen and you have to insert coins and then select a game.  I would simply listen again, hit some buttons to insert coins then just hammer start and see if you can hear a game start up.  If so you may be OK with video out.

Post pics of everything you have.

Unplug the whole 138-in-1 for now, since that outputs its own RGB video image at startup.  You're potentially not seeing the Neo-Geo's video at all with that thing in there.

yeah i removed it right after to check if id see some grid...
nothing at screen.

ive checked if i can get volts.
4.85 on both 5v
and 12.1 on 12v ..
so i guess for a start the power is going into the board
