Something I had read about but never noticed myself is the lag on Wii u's virtual console games. I was playing Punch Out on Wii U and I was losing to some of the earliest opponents; at first I chalked it up to not having played in years. After getting my Famicom Everdrive I had no problems and played to Soda Popinsky without losing.

We're these both played on a lcd/plasma?

The Wii-u was on a plasma set to game mode, the Famicom was on a CRT.

To tell you my experiences, I didn't noticed any lag with the original Wii's virtual console games, when being played on a CRT. I compared them to games that I also have played on real consoles (e.g. Gradius II). It did not matter if I used wired controllers (e.g. GameCube controller) or wireless controllers (Wiimote, or Wii Classic Controller Pro attached to the Wiimote).

I have no idea if the Wii U's virtual console all of a sudden introduced input lag. So that's one thing that I'm very curious about.

One thing I know is that Wii Ware games like Castlevania Rebirth add video postprocessing when played in Wii's 16:9 mode, resulting in blurry pixels (not related to the TV's aspect ratio setting). These games are recommended to be played with the Wii set up in 4:3 mode. But there was no input lag whatsoever even in Wii 16:9.

this thread inspired me to "undust" (the dust is still there) my WiiU. Played Wonderful 101 for the first time, I only played the first mission. I just hope the rest of the game is not like that (the narrator explaining everything like in some old animes).

I also went ahead and performed the smash stack. No need for the Wii anymore.

I haven't touched 101 in agges.. and xenoblade is just sitting around.  The new direct had some something I liked and that was..

Lost Reaver looks promising and hopefully it will deliver.. but it's just a digital download game I hope it will have a physical release.
