Complete Collection Set of Nintendo Wii Games
« on: January 22, 2016, 06:02:44 AM »
First time I've ever seen or heard of anyone going for a complete set of Nintendo Wii games.

Warning the link is a Metal Jesus Rocks video, I know he has a lot of haters on this forum. My feelings about him are neutral, I'm not a big fan nor do I dislike him, but thought this particular video was interesting.

Complete collections are a bit nutty no matter what, but it's so much worse on a system like the Wii.  1260 games total and at least 1000 of 'em are shit shovelware.
U.S. Collection: 98% complete    157/161 titles

Wow. I thought my friend with the complete US PS2 collection was a moron. Complete Wii? Shit, I only have like 30 Wii games and I could stand to get rid of a few.

I like the Wii, but it might actually be the worse system to "complete" since the good/bad ratio is *super* terrible. Like 1/80 or somthing.

I guess I just don't get complete collections in any sense as there are always terrible games but the Wii, really? Way to much crap to make it worthwhile but if he likes it more power to him.

I like the Wii but it may have the worst good to bad game ratio of any console. I would've taken all that money spent on the plethora of shit sports and motion games and put it towards some good games on other consoles.

No less than three "I like the Wii, but..." comments.

Says a lot. :P

Definitely, unless you view everything pre-8-bit gen as pretty much garbage.

I saw this video elsewhere and it's interesting that he says in aggregate he paid less than $4 a game, which is doing pretty good considering the prices on some Wii titles anymore.

As mentioned elsewhere, I found if funny that he talked about enjoying Rodea, but the copy shown in the video was sealed still  :P

Well, there are only 470 Atari 2600 games compared to 1,280 Wii games. Having said that, there really aren't any Atari 2600 games I'd actually want to play now other than maybe Pitfall so yeah, maybe the 2600 does have the Wii beat.

A mere 18 in my opinion, though about 5-10 more aren't shovelware per se.

I'm with Necro on this. I don't even want to click on the link because getting every Wii game is just profoundly frivolous.

EDIT: Re: 2600...

Atlantis
Berzerk
Demon Attack
Demons to Diamonds
Fast Food
Freeway
Frogs and Flies
Frostbite
H.E.R.O.
Haunted House
Jawbreaker
Kaboom!
Kangaroo
Keystone Kapers
Missile Command
Phoenix
Piece o’ Cake
Pitfall
Pitfall II: Lost Caverns
Planet Patrol
Plaque Attack
Pressure Cooker
River Raid
Seaquest
Secret Quest
Solar Fox
Solar Storm
Solaris
Space Invaders
Spider-Man
Spider Fighter
Yars’ Revenge

And that's not to mention plenty of the excellent homebrews that have come out since the late 90s.

Edited 2x: removed a few games that upon replaying today, I found I did not like as much to recommend after all.

So, what is it mean that I think his inefficient shelving is crazier than a full Wii game collection? I mean a complete Wii collection is crazy but if you going to do it make the shelving more efficient! 11 games then a double shelve wall!! So much wasted space.

I mean if you are going to do it go all out with custom shelving, like seriously.

Ahem... anyway cool video.

I thought the same thing when I saw it.  I have that same Ikea shelving, but I use it for CDs (my PCE and MegaCD actually) instead of DVDs.
