January 24 - January 30: Fushigi no Yume no Alice
---------------------------------------------------------------------

(chosen by EmperorIng)

Alice has been tasked with saving Wonderland from itself. The Queen of Hearts and her endless army of mutant turkeys, jazzist dogs, and hopping crocodiles have kidnapped the rightful rulers of Wonderland. Is Alice a bad enough dude to rescue them?

She has her work cut out for her, as the crisco she smeared on her sneakers means she will be sliding all over the place. She will not be able to rely on her vaunted super-jump, because the timing eludes even the most punctual of rabbits. Finding secret health and power-ups will force her to listen to a maddening jingle, over and over again. All she can do is shout out her frustration, yelling "No!" at her enemies, killing them in the process. Will it be enough to survive a dozen stages of platform hell?

“But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad."
"How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here.”

This would probably be a pretty good game were it not for the slidey and unresponsive controls. I love cute looking platformers like this but it doesn't take long for me to turn this one off because it gets annoying to play fast. The worst is when you're fighting a boss because even though the few I've played haven't been all that tough, it is very tough to jump over them or their projectile, turn around, and shoot them; most of the time I wind up still facing the way I jumped when I fire even though I hit the opposite direction before I tried to fire.

Projectiles are mostly not even worth it. For most of everything, you are better served hopping on enemies. Not that that fixes the other problems you mentioned. =/

Was just playing this today, didn't realize it was the game of the week. frustrating, and once I figured out you could jump on enemies the game played a little better. But then I turned it off after forest 3 and instead played through Makai Prince Dorabocchan

That's because I aim to please, unlike this game  ](*,)

I've made it as far as the boss of the Vegetables area. Enemy placement is annoying along with how easy it is to get hit. Makes you want to just rush forward, which makes you get hit more.  :x

I've now made it as far as the first level of the palace. The checkpoints at this stage are pretty unreal. Whereas before they were generous, now they are punishing, sending you back several rooms.

I feel like the game is throwing up its hands at this point. It has even given you an invincibility spell so you can just cheese through the more difficult parts of the stage. Not that that helps with the sheer amount of projectile-spamming enemies at this point.

Its the last day for everyone to experience FACE's attempt at platforming! Rev up Ootake and share your thoughts! Like "Why does this game only have like two mini-bosses repeated over and over again?" or "This boss music is so good! Too bad we only ever hear the first few bars of it!"

I didn't have the heart to play this game over the past week.

Instead, I've been punishing myself with Tricky Kick on a TurboExpress. The puzzle sprites are SO SO TINY.
