NG DEV Team
« on: June 16, 2016, 02:12:14 PM »
Who here buys their games?

I have picked up a majority of their games. All on the Dream Cast as those where the most affordable option.

However, their latest game kraut Buster a Metal Slug like game will only be available as a MVS or AES game. In fact I think for their past two games they are no longer releasing on the Dream Cast due to pirating of their games. Which is kind of lame in my opinion. I don't feel the people who bought their dream cast games would stop just because there were bootleggers. The people bootleg I. Their games where never goi. To buy their stuff.

Well they sent a email stating they opened back up pre-order and well I pulled the trigger. I always kept away from their MVS games due to price. But. Well. I really want to try this game out.

Go go creadit card!  That I hate to use lol.

This is the game of theirs that I'm least interested in. I'd rather buy the rest of the Metal Slug games first.

I just bought the anthology and called it a day.

However, I do happen to have some of the Metal Slug games on the MVS...I think I have 2, X, 3, and 4?

missing 1, and 5...unless I am getting my numbers mixed up on the ones I own...

Eventually plan on getting the two or three I am missing on MVS.

Might also pick up Cyber Lip one day to...which some consider to be a photo Metal Slug game of sorts.

No parallax???

Is it me, or does anyone else think that it looks like something that you could do on a PCE with an Arcade Card?  :-k

Certainly nothing more than a SuperGrafx with an Arcade Card!

Yeah I've kind of wanted their DC bundle of games, those games look really cool. But this one honestly looks a little meh. Especially for a $400 cart

If Metal Slug never got made this would be a a fine spiritual successor to Cyber Lip. As it is though...it looks fun but comparisons to Metal Slug are impossible to avoid and not even SNK can make a good one of those anymore. These guys have got another decade before they can produce something Nazca grade.

If you're starved for run and gun, I'd do it for sure, but I have no problem just playing MS 1-3 forever and ever because that series is singularly amazing. I'm still noticing stuff now when I play these games that I missed the first few hundred times.

Also, is this thing two player? I assume it is but I didn't notice any co-op in the trailer.

Regardless of anything I can't say buying it will be a bad idea. It will likely be some time before a ROM is dumped so you'll be able to share something with your friends (assuming it is 2P) that they for sure haven't played before. Also, I'm pretty sure you can get at least get what you payed for it later because there is a collectard f*ck frenzy in the sewers...so many little collectards crawling out that it seems unlikely that anything in our collections will drop in value for at least 6-8 years.

I find their releases interesting but overall they're like meh. I guess regular Neo games set the bar too high already, just look at all the criticism they're receiving for their Metal Slug clone.

Never heard of thsee guys before, but EUR 400 is too rich for my blood for a game which may not be good.  If I knew it was a classic, then maybe, but I wouldn't want preorder regret here.  I kick myself enough when I get a $48 new game (Best Buy price) and it sucks.

Zeta, on the website there is a Press Start in the top right of the screen, not sure if it is there in the trailer since I only looked at screen shots, but it's gotta be co-op.

This trailer looks a lot better than the initial one for Kraut Buster, but I'm still not gonna buy it.  Like others have said MS has done a pretty decent job basically defining the standard there so if you've already got the games and enjoy replaying them then I think the desire is pretty low.

To answer Zeta's question yes it is two player co-op.

I couldn't say if it would be a "classic". Games especially Indy games just never know what to expect long term.

Granted with this Indy company I have enjoyed their other games. The first game of theirs I became interested in was Gunlord which was a very fun clone of Turican.

Since then I have picked up most of their other Dreamcast games. They tend to pump out more shoot em ups then anything else. And even though I enjoy a good shooter I can get burnt out on then rather quickly.

The game Kurote Buster att first when they released images and video I was very under impressed and passed.

However, when I looked at it again mostly the screen shoots on their website I was intrigued. The use of color and graphic clarity seemed to have improved drastically from what I remembered last year when the game was first announced.

So I figured what the hell. Haven't bought a MVS game in a few months lol. Granted I had told myself if I was to buy one of their MVS games it would have been Gunlord wich is also back up for sale. I figured if I was going to drops the money might as well make it a game of theirs I don't get own.

I will say one thing that annoys me with this Indy game company.

They always seem to say they will no longer produce more copies of their games. But every now and again they pop up with a new pressing. I love that he option is available cuts down on resellers trying to sell at a premium. But it makes the casual buyer like myself feel as though the option to buy some of their games as extremely limited and I had to make a snap decision as their stuff tend to sell out quickly.

Sure you could like it to a company like Limited run games. How ever with limited run they are not creating the game and typically you have had the option to play the game being ported previously. Where with NG DEV you have to go more off the companies track record of you enjoy their games. As I belive it's mostly a two man operation in Germany.

The first two (Breach & Clear and Saturday Morning RPG) were their own games.

It's almost as if it's done on purpose...
