Around this same time I bought Quake and Duke for SS so I could play Deathtank Zwei. I think I payed $9.99 for one and $7.99 for the other. I got them because the only guy I knew with Powerslave moved away and I needed the Deathtank to keep going. I have absolutely zero interest in either Duke or Quake themselves, especially for Saturn so I waited until I could find them so cheap. I did it then because the games were already getting hard to find but I never thought it would eventually cost ten times that to own the same games. Back then you could still get Magical Chase for $100, which I considered completely insane.
Also at about the same time EA released NBA Live 2002 for PlayStation 2 which cost $50 and sold over 900,000 copies but now rarely sells for its usual asking price of $1 so...it certainly goes the other direction as well.
