odyssey2 sighting
« on: October 15, 2006, 11:15:05 AM »
So we're selling our old sylvania projection telvision, from 1990. while browsing the manual, I spotted something odd.

there was an 'rf switch' accessory for the television. (we never got it, but the port was there; a weird DIN5 sort of connector on the back.)

the picture shows the rf switch connecting to the odd port, and 3 coax inputs from 3 devices: a VCR, a 'video disc player', and a 'video game'. the pictured 'video game' looks like an odyssy2.

I'll have to find a good scanner and upload pics before it gets sold :o

was sylvania just a label of Magnavox, or were they separate from them? if the latter, how'd they get away with using the o2?

Aha! That rocks. Manuals are usually so boring, it's nice when you come across a nugget like this. I'm not sure if Sylvania was just a label of Magnavox (too lazy to look it up), but it seems very likely. I would love to see a scan of this, if you are still up for it :).

I have some old NEC home electronics catalogs I can scan for you, if you're interested :)

Am I foolish for hoping that you scanned this page of the manual?

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

I only took a photo of it. Didn't think anyone cared, so I didn't bother to post it. gimme a bit to find it again.

And yes, I would love to see the NEC HE catalog scans!

It's a neat catalog from the mid-80's... maybe 86? :)
