LOL. I remember you talking on gamehuggers about shoutbox being gone and all the split with the community to all the different chat places. Like you I hope this will pick up momentum again and people will come here more often.

Anyway, you're welcome.

Keep in mind I'll look again for other freebie chat mods at the SMF Mods section though there aren't much. This one had a 2017 update, so it wasn't as abandoned as the others. But given all the code patching I had to do, and how cheap it is, it's unfortunate...

Anybody remember the old chat mod being better, what it looked like ?? I wasn't active back then, never saw it.

I remember it looking better but that could be the nostalgia talking. It wasn't much better though. One thing I think it did have was that it showed who was online I think? But back then the forum didn't have that bar at the bottom showing attendance.

FYI the auto scroll is still buggy when someone writes more than one line of text.

Other than it scrolling properly (this one doesn't autoscroll on chrome) and being larger (maybe resizeable?), I don't remember it being much different.  If anything this one is more advanced, as I don't recall the old one having buttons for font, colors, smileys, etc. though they'd work if appropriate code was typed.

Alright, Shoutbox v2.1 update.

* Empty your browser's cache if you can and hit F5/Refresh a few times to make sure all updated JavaScript files get downloaded.

* Double/Triple echo post bug 100% fixed! The refresh occurs every 3.5 seconds to check for new texts, the server asynchronous related code has been preserved to satisfy Matt's annoyance at the slight pausing before and my preference for perfection. ;) It's all gotten MUCH better from what it was out of the box!

* Auto-scrolling, fixed/improved, every 3.5 seconds to the bottom/newest text.

* I added a resize ability good only for browsers with CSS 3.0 support like Chrome, and an active chat viewer list up-to-date every 4 seconds underneath the chat. (Seems people are leaving a chat window open all night since it was added...so doesn't necessarily mean they're in front of their phone/PC.)



* Shoutbox now registers as a new SMF forum action titled "The PC EngineFX Shoutbox," so it's been properly integrated and will display as member activity when looking at the Who's Online page.

* Shout/chatbox compatibility so far: Chrome v63 & IE 11 on Windows 7, Chrome on Android 4.4 Kitkat & Android 7.1 Nougat. Dunno how/why it started working on Android 4.4 Chrome, the programmatic scrolling wouldn't work before, but it got fixed with the latest changes.

* And once again for our beloved Arkhan, I patched a dead image link to Yahoo for the YIM! GIF and added it to the theme image folder () so it stops splattering the alternative image display text. AOL AIM attributes to a profile were deactivated since I know that's dead. I wasn't sure about YIM just yet, but whatevah. ;)
