METAL SLUG ANTHOLOGY
« on: December 17, 2006, 04:29:07 AM »
Figured I'd start it up.  I'm by no means a Metal Slug historian, but just picked up this game.  In fact my only prior experience is rocking a bit in the NEO arcade (don't remember which installments) and playing Metal Slug 1st/2nd Mission?  on the NGPC!  Just tapped into Metal Slug (1st in series on the anthology).  I'm using the Wii remote sideways like a classic controller (how do I refer to this in the future?).  The one cool twist is that you flick the controller for bombs!!  I'm having a blast!!  It seems there are unlimited continues which is awesome since I die all the time   You can also save the game at any level.  I just got to level 4.  Good stuff.

Post your experiences here!!

There is blood.  I do not have a gamecube controller (sold my GC and didn't think to keep the controller for the Wii.. smooth move, huh?).  The time for loading a game and between levels isn't that bad.  It does take a bit to get through the beginning screens, but it didn't really bother me that much.

Your using the method that I would like to use if I ever get it. How are the other methods? That one mode where you have to tilt the controller to go back and fourth looks like it could be annoying, but possibly fun.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Ya, I'm pretty lazy about trying out the other methods.  Some of the others seem more prone to making mistakes and less precision.  I'll def try the tilt method just for kicks though.   :P

I've herd mix reponse to MSA on the wii on many boards.

Most of the reponse's are due to it's controlls even with useing a GC controller for it.

I was thinking of picking it up for the Wii when i 'get one next year.

Still i think i'll pass on it and get it for the PS2 insted i just wish, SNKP would stop delaying it so much

Hmm, providing some interactivity with Metal Slug on the Wii huh? Sounds pretty interesting that Nintendo is trying to give a little bit of realism into letting you tilt the controller in order to simulate bomb droppings.  I need to give this a try and see for myself.  I had the privilege of trying out Dragonball Z: Budokai 2 with the Wii feature and after getting used to the controls, had a total blast.  I expect the same with Metal Slug. :)

Sorry, but I don't see your library card on the books of Ys.  Now, RETURN THEM TO ME!!!

I'm probably thinking of getting a copy of MSA before stock runs out. But I'm gonna hold off from purchasing the system because I hear nintendo is going to drop the price by $50.

I hear that if you use the GCN controller, you have to use the analog stick.  With the Wiimote, it sounds like the closest approximation to the arcade controls is the setup that Cavein is using, where you have to flick the controller to throw bombs.

I'll rent the Wii version and if I can play it in a way close to the original, as well as weird Wii exclusive ways, I'll buy it.

Otherwise, I'll just pick up the PS2 version.
