both are completely different systems with a different range of games that will appeal to different people. Nothing personal, but what I've quoted is a really dumb statement to make.

sorry for the dumb statement.  I just have far too many great nes memories.  Had my parent's gotten me a Sega Master System back in the christmas of '87 I probably would have a totally different opinion.  =)   I actually do have one now- what are some of the absolute BEST games for it? (So I know what to look for)

I used to own Golden Axe Warrior, complete, and I played it a lot.  I think I sold it!  Probably to get something like E-Swat for the Genesis.

As well as those mentioned, Mortal Kombat (either I or II - stay away from III, it's awful!), Ren & Stimpy (although you'll struggle to get it - it's brazilian Import only), Any of the disney titles - Mickey mouse in Castle of Illusion, Land of Illusion or Legend of Illusion, Donald Duck in Lucky dime caper or deep duck trouble, Lion King etc. Golvellius, Xenon II, Any of the Sonic Games, Micro Machines (it's awesome!!!).

Wow, bubble bobble came out for the SMS? i must find it!

Also, as for Spy vs. Spy; is it anything like the NES game, or is it something different? and, most importantly, is it 2 player?

I don't think anyone has mentioned Miracle Warriors yet; i'm not too impressed, but some people think it's great.
Some of the Wonderboy games are better than others; my personal favorite is #3, 'the dragon's trap'.

I can't remember what the NES one was like, but I think it's the same game; don't quote me on that. Also I am pretty sure it's two players.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Actaulity (Spy Vs Spy) started out... as a pc game such as showing up on computers like the Commodore 64 etc.

Wich in turn was ported to the NES&SMS consoles.

Still it was a good use for a licenese game though it's fun, trying to outwit a friend in 2p mode.

Bubble Bobble SMS is as arcade perfect as graphics got back then. All it's missing is FM sound.

Miracle Warriors is the best. If you're used to modern games, it may be hard to adjust.

yeah, I find it easier to get into old games that I played 'back in the day' than ones i've never played before, and I suspect that's the reason.

For me it's probably the opposite - I love getting games that I probably wanted when I was a kid but couldn't afford - (nobody could afford a collection of like 100+ games when I was young, I think the most games I had was about 35 - 40 and I was damn proud of that!) - So playing all these games now still gives me a thrill!

Well, I guess it all depends on the game.  Some games just simply age better than others.

For me, that's especially true for certain genres.  I can play a lot of old-school RPGs for the first time and still have fun with it, whereas old school racing games just don't cut it for me anymore - they're so much better now.
