Hate that awful Master System?

Is your SMS knowledge limited to 3 or 4 U.S. games?

Then you'll love the extended Retronauts audio episode.

Amazingly, a few guys who know almost nothing about the SMS needed an extra time to trash something that they aren't familiar with(but still they still have time to squeeze in another 'TG-16 is only 8-bit' comment).  :clap:

They actually go on about how it has no good games worldwide (only Zilliom and Fantasy Star) and how its such an ugly(literally) hunk of junk.

Well, my Master System knowledge is pretty much limited to Phantasy Star. But hey, at least I can admit it, and I don't go around trashing a system I've never really even played.

I like the SMS just fine, has some good games and all, but I will agree it really is physically quite ugly.

But aesthetics don't make or break a console.

It is very ugly, and the number of good games is extremely low, but it is still a cool system for many reasons.

The SMS II is probably the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. =P~
It's looks more than make up for the ugliness of the first version.
I would totally get it on with the SMS 2...with or without beer goggles.

The original master system is more beautiful than the crap that 1up.com calls web design.
As for games, the SMS has more good games than the entire Playstation family.

Mega word. What's up with video game websites these days anyway? 1up, The Magicbox, Kotaku... these websites are uglier than your standard 1997 site! Gamespot and IGN looks better, but they're TOO flashy instead. Takes forever to load them. :roll:

Nooooooooooo! :) I think we discussed this before...

EDIT: Old thread, where I defend the original SMS as the koolest-looking! SMS II is a turd!

Seriously, though, the original SMS design just kicks ass. The sharp angular design was very 80's high-tech / futuristic chic. I love it, and in the world of consoles, SMS1 stands out as a genuinely refreshing approach: it is STRIKING. I won't repeat my comments again, but I stand by everything I said back then.

The Master System may not be the best looking, or the most powerful of it's generation, but damn, it had GREAT games.

Dare I say that I like more SMS games than NES games?
