...interested in a PC Engine related PC Game project? Purely for free, for fun and for love of the machine.

Shoot 'em up by the way.

More information if there is some interest.

Depends on the tools you wish to use...I might have some interest. :) If you're going to use a game maker though, sorry...not my cup of tea. :)

To clarify, I'd be looking for a programmer who uses whatever they want to. My involvement would be part planning, part design and part graphics. I will post some images soon to put across my idea.

OK, here's the idea. And at the moment it is nothing more than an idea.
It's a kind of Gate of Thunder Remix. NOT a PC conversion or a PCE compatible game, but a PC game that uses mostly redrawn graphics from the original, with other new graphics, and contains new level designs and attack patterns. While the basic gameplay would remain the same, we could mix and match graphics from various levels along with adding new ideas of our own.
Graphics would be in double the resolution, redrawn to maintain the feel and style of the original game and era. I've been doing some preliminary tests and have posted these below.

I kind of dig that new graphic scheme you are going for, especially the new ship design. That new ship design is from the cinema, right?

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Yeah the 2 ships are scaled down versions from the opening (as that is the easiest way to do it). Everything else would just be 'ressed up' versions of the originals.

So what coding language are you guys going to use for this project? C++? C#? Visual Basic? Java?

Sorry, but I don't see your library card on the books of Ys.  Now, RETURN THEM TO ME!!!

There was no project. It was only at the concept stage and would only have got off the ground if a programmer was found so it ain't going to happen.

I am however working on a similar concept at the moment. I'm going to do a lot of graphics work before I throw the net out for programmers, as it's hard to get interest unless you have something concrete to show first.

That's too bad. :(  I was really looking forward to seeing what you guys got.

Oh, and for the record, I'm taking C and C++ coding in university.  When I get skilled enough, I'll let you guys know and maybe I can help out with your projects!

sorry for the necropost  8-[

I am also studying some programming.  Once I graduate this May I will have some knowledge in C#, JAVA, and VB along with a few others.  Anyway- I do know of a couple peeps in my classes that are far more advanced than I- I could drop a line to those guys to start a project or something- that is, if you are still interested in using your pictures.

The concept has kind of shifted a little, but what with the workload of redoing my website, it's unlikely that I'll make any further progress for at least a year.

if you need a function or sub written here & there i'd be glad to help out. Don't have the time or game coding experience to really dive into the project. Fluent in VB6 or .net, university taught in C++  but i have'nt used it in years... like most programmers, i can probably adapt to whatever language you chose.

Thanks, but this idea has been chucked back onto the ever growing pile of 'maybe one day'.
