Wii is pretty weak

So I borrowed my brothers Wii to play Super Paper Mario and he had New Adventure Island downloaded.  It seems to emulate fine, but why doesn't the damn VC readjust the screen size for emulators?  It's a pain the ass having to switch aspect modes on my tv everytime I boot up NAI.  Xbox, 360, and PS3 all have correct aspect ratios while in 16:9 mode for old 4:3 games, what the hell is the hold up with the wii?  Also, why do the batteries run out so fast?  I have rumble turned off, no volume on the speaker, and still I only got about 8 hours out of my last set of batteries.  Hell my 360 controller with rumble on lasts that long.

I will say that browsing the internet from the couch is pretty cool, it's way easier with the pointer thingy than it would be with a regular controller.  And holding the remote sideways to play Paper Mario isn't bad at all, I figured the controller would be extremely uncomfortable but it's actually ok.  I'm glad I didn't shell out the $250 for one of these, but it's not too bad of a system if you're borrowing it to play the 2 good games it has or playing it with some friends.

Nintendo totally BULLSHITTED about the battery life of Wii controllers, saying they could hold 30 hours I think. I'm always having to change my rechargeable baterries in it. It might just be the recharagle batteries though because when I first got my Wii and used the normal batteries that came with it, the battery life lasted much longer, I think around two weeks and that was with tons of hours of play each day. Maybe those charger stations released for it work better.

Browsing the internet with the Wii kicks so much ass, especially with the latest version! My dad's new favorite hobby is browsing YouTube with the Wii. It's easy, comfortable, and works great (though full screen can be a bit choppy).

You might want to try out Excite Truck. Though the default soundtrack is garbage (you can upload your own music) and it's "superredneck", it's a really fun extreme racing game and bares some gameplay resemblence to Excite Bike. They make you hold the controller in an oddway though which can take some time to get used to, but making gigantic jumps off hills is so much fun.

The Wii, like the Gamecube, PS2 and Dreamcast, does not embed a 16:9 flag in the video like it should.  So your TV has no way of knowing what is 4:3 content and what is 16:9.  The Xbox 1 would embed a 16:9 flag, but only in 480i video, not in 480p, which was odd.

We use heavy duty batteries on the Wii remote,and they typically last around 20-25 hours.

Speaking of which, the original batteries supplies with my Wii remotes have yet to die out.  Maybe I should actually use the system some time.  But I just can't find a reason to turn the blasted thing on!

Agreed afther the final broswer came out for the, Wii watching youtube on it became a breeze.

My only nickpick.. you can't watch any video on GT with the Wii

I disagree. Especially nowadays. Sure, Zelda TP was fantastic, but that's one of the very few great Nintendo games I've played in recent years. They've definitely lost it. I'm never buying another Nintendo system simply because I've regretted getting the GBC, N64, GBA, GC and DS. That's not to say I haven't enjoyed games for those systems, but not enough games - three good games per system is not enough to warrant owning that system.

Haha I'm leaching off somebody elses wireless connection.  The Wii found like 10 wireless networks in my neighborhood and it was nice enough to tell me which ones were password protected and which had the best connection speeds.  That sucks about the 4:3 and 16:9 flags, you'd think that'd be a no-brainer to include.

Nintendo honestly doesn't know any better.  They aren't very smart when it comes to video.  You can't blame them.  They're just st00pid.

Im Looking forward to the Wii re-release of Resident Evil 4. Word on the street is its going to be a "value" game at around $20 or so, which is a smart move. Even though I own the gamecube version, I only played it through once. For $20, i'll bite. Should be nice to play with the remote, and at true 16:9.
