PSP reccomendation thread!
« on: July 17, 2007, 06:53:43 PM »
OK, so I am the proud owner of a PSP, I used to mock the damn thing but now that I have one I will NEVER buy a DS! It's really great as an MP3 player, it holds all my pR0n, I'm sure that if I could get PSPVideo to convert FLVs properly it'd be a great video player, and it is AWESOME to be able to wardrive and park outside someones house and use their Wi-Fi!

However, the very first "game" I bought was Traxxpad Music Studio, and while that is a competent and cool little portable sampler, I NEED SOME REAL GAMES!

I am going to buy Gradius Collection, that is a given. But I need some more games recommended to me!

I'm down with anything, as long as it's not fishing/hunting/NASCAR/anything equally redneck, or sports other than snowboarding (racing games are accepted but see the NASCAR clause above), and none of that rap shit like Def Jam or DUB City.

These are the games others have told me to pick up:

Capcom Classics Collection Remixed
Sega Genesis Collection
Bust - A - Move Deluxe
Mega Man X: Maverick Hunters
Mega Man: Powered Up!
Final Fantasy
Generations Of Chaos
Metal Slug Anthology
Lumines
Ridge Racers
Wipeout Pure
Coded Arms
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops
Tekken: Dark Resurrection
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories

Can anybody tell me a little more about these games, and recommend some others? Thanks! ^_^

I would suggest to you Initial D import. I'm a big initial d fan and it is a pretty decent game, alot like the arcade. I think that if you like sega arcade racers that you would like Initial d.

EA released a "best of" compilation for the PSP. It's a 'best of' their Sega Genesis games. Mutant League football, Road Rash 1-3, The Haunting, etc.

HOWEVER, if you like Road Rash, be warned that from what I've read each Road Rash game only has one music tune. It's a CD track, and not midi like the cart. One music track for all races.....

Gurumin is one of the best games for PSP & it's made by Falcom!  Also, Daxter is really good, especially if you're into the Jak & Daxter series.  The Legend of Heroes games are great, though the translations suck.  Castlvania Dracula X Chronicles will be great, but doesn't come out for a couple months.  Me & My Katamari is good, LocoRoco is awesome!  I might suggest you hold off on getting MGS Portable Ops, as they just announced an updated version with more levels, etc., coming out in Japan, so, that will probably come out here.  I wish they'd hurry up & make more Maverik Hunter X games for it.

As for the games you mentioned:
Capcom Classics Collection Remixed-it's really cool, good amount of arcade games, there's also one called Capcom Reloaded!
Sega Genesis Collection-pretty good from what I've seen, good variety of Genesis games, though, I only have the Ps2 version
Bust - A - Move Deluxe-Haven't played this one, but, I'm sure it's good, never played a Bust a move that sucked
Mega Man X: Maverick Hunters-Awesome, complete overhaul of Mega Man X, with 2.5D graphics & animated cinemas
Mega Man: Powered Up!-Pretty Good, goofy updated graphics & music, & has 2 extra bosses
Final Fantasy-Pretty nice, though, I doubt I'll pick it up, the PS1 version is good enough for me
Generations Of Chaos-looks cool, never played it
Metal Slug Anthology-heard it's really good
Lumines-don't know
Ridge Racers-don't know
Wipeout Pure-don't know
Coded Arms-it's ok, nothing special
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops-really good, if you've played other MGS games, you know what to expect
Tekken: Dark Resurrection-don't know
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories-don't know

Thanks for all your suggestions and keep them coming!

@turbo D: Does the game have a lot of Eurodance? Please tell me it does! ^_^

@Mr. Fulci: I wanted the EA collection just for Haunting and Wing Commander. Too bad about Road Rash, but then again, I always like Skitchin' better anyway.

@ParanoiaDragon: Capcom Reloaded isn't as good as Remixed from what I've heard. Yeah it has SF2, but the controls are BUSTED! I'd get the original Street Fighter anyway with Remixed, so that's sort of a consolation prize. Pluz I want to play that Quiz and Dragons game, that looks awesome!

The DS can do all that, with various add ons.

As far as reccomendations go, I can only suggest We <3 katamari. It's the only game for it I'm really interested in, but I've never played it.

If you happen to pick up Bomberman for the PSP, lemme know how it is.

The PSP can do all that, WITHOUT any add-ons. :)

I've heard the controls were busted on that edition, but there's supposedly a new one coming out that I'm looking forward to.

Will do. :)

Actually, I used to think the controls were busted on that one, but, playing it recently, I got used to it, so, it's still fun IMO.

Generations of Chaos is really bad, in fact every NIS game for the PSP is total crap because of the insane amount of loading.  Like Sonic on Xbox 360 bad load times.

Ultimate Ghosts N Goblins is awesome and cheap.

Ghost in the Shell is good fun also, but the load times do get annoying.

dude the sonic on ps3 has shitty load times too. I think that sega just went down hill. That new sonic game was just programed really poorly. I can't stand to even play it.

Well, if you are a turbo fan, you should know that Add-ons > no add-ons :p

Only if an all-in-one machine does not exist.  A TurboGrafx-16 + TurboGrafx-CD + Super System Card >   a Duo.

Oh, forgot to mention, that in Japan there are some more Konami collections for PSP, namely Parodius Collection, Twin Bee Collection, & Salamander Collection!
