PCE>Jamma questions

I am picking up a unit identical to this:

and was wondering if anyone had any info...preferably a manual scan or at least what the dip settings change.  Thanks.

Nope but I am the one he bought it for.  Its a gift for doing a bunch of work for him...he knew I was an arcade collector and a TG-16 fan so he picked it up for me and showed me the listing...now I just have to wait for him to bring it by when he gets it...and get some PCE games...all mine are US.  I guess I could do the pin 29 ground trick and rewire the cart slot to play US games but that seems like a pain when I could just buy a few pce games  :wink:

Welcome aboard!  Unfortunately, I don't recall ever seeing any info. on this particular beast, but Mr. Covell (ccovell) is knowledgeable about a lot of oddball hardware and might be helpful.  It's your equipment so do as you wish, but I vote that you don't modify such a funky piece of hardware (assuming that it's rare and pricey).  Like you stated, PC Engine games are readily available and usually cheap.

Yeah I have a TG-16 (no cdrom but thats ok since I have the turbo booster plus) that I can play my US games on so having a PCE will be really nice.  I dont really see the need to modify the unit as most of my TG-16 games arent really that arcade friendly anyhow.  A few maybe but nothing that I couldnt pick up cheap enough in PCE that would warrent modifying and probably devaluing the hardware.

This should be a fun little unit to mess around with.  I will have to do some documenting of the hardware when I recieve it and get some sort of faq or manual made up for people.  I dont know of any others of these around really so I dont know how usefull it will be but it may just help someone out down the line.

That's funny, but I don't remember d-lite outbidding you on one of these bad-asses.  Anyways, here's the scanned manual from the other thread (re-uploaded elsewhere to save d-lite's bandwidth).

Thanks a million!  That will come in very handy in the near future I think. Plus it saved me the time of hunting through search results ;)  Cant wait to play with this...didnt come today though so I will have to be patient I guess.

since when something is offical when a small company produces an attachment to connect a PC Enigne (yes, it's not even a Turbografx-16) to the JAMMA-harness?? i bet 100%ly this thing never had anything to do with NEC neither Hudson. and there exist a lot of others just like that one.

Fine, I'll accept this bet. I bet my entire PCE collection against yours! :)

Black_Tiger, do you still have those pics of the TG-16 arcade cab that you uploaded to the old yahoo group? (What was the name of that place again?)

Tangent: I know Paranoia Dragon was often at the yahoo group... did anyone else make it here?

I had asked the seller if it was two players, but he said that he hadn't tested it. Do you think you can check for me when it arrives? I'm  just curious.

No problem.  I think I am going to take some pics, document what isnt in the manual, etc and put up a web page.  I will put all that kind of info in there.

Looking at the manual it doesnt appear to be 2 player but that doesnt mean that the functionality isnt there...it may just be shown as 1 player...It also shows three buttons (not including the player start button...maybe for select???) I will find out soon enough.

Also I am thinking I may redo the wiring...it looks kind of messy on this board compaired to the images I have seen on the web of others (such as the one in the link in my first post).  Maybe use a jamma fingerboard and make it so you can acutally use a prewired jamma harness instead of having to use their amp connectors...would make it easier to swap boards in a cab that way.

Yeah, of course :). I was "esteban" or "stevek666" or "belial dancing" or something like that. I'm pretty sure there were some great pictures of two dudes (in business suits) doing a "publicity" shot for the TG-16 arcade cab... Victory Run was on the marquee, maybe?
