Well for one thing American console and arcade games in general were pretty much thought of as jokes up until the last 5-7 years or so, which would have included most of the Geo's life. If some hack at Aklaim or Activison or EA was getting his ass kicked kicked in the $50 game market by Nintendo, Sega, Square, Konami, Enix, etc then trying to sell $250 games wouldn't be a very good idea in general.
I mean, how many western developed PCE/Turbo games are there?
Hit the Ice
Lode Runner
Hatris
J.B. Harold Murder Club
Wizardry I - V
Might & Magic I & III
Prince of Persia
Sim Earth
The Manhole
Populous Hu & CD
Stratego
Lemmings
Faceball
Mine Sweeper
Where In the World is Carmen Sandiego?
Shanghai I - III
Slime World
You are confusing western originals with Japan-developed PCE ports.
Nope, I know that most of those were ported by Japanese people. But they're still non-japanese games designed by gaijins.
The point being made was that Japan makes all the best games, which I'm not arguing against. It just made me realize how many non-japanese Turbo/PCE games there really are, which is neat.
But I don't think that anyone here would consider Hudson Arcade Card ports of Mortal Kombat and Primal Rage to be japanese games or Aklaim and Activision making straight ports of classic Zelda and Mario games to be 'western' games.
