Sony's whole idea with pushing the 40GB model which they have been doing for some time is crap.  Keep it PS2 friendly or I will never have a reason to buy one!  I could care less about playing PS3 games on the PS3.

Yup, those have been on the books for some time too and should be cheaper than the previous ones.  I am probably going to eventually exploit my American PS2 with HD and then load my games on to that since it will play the fastest and give the least wear on my discs...I just need to get a memory card I can write to easly.

I wish the PS2 was easy to clean at least, my FX started skipping redbook audio the other day and I was able to easly make it work again by using a dry cotton swab carefully on it.

Guess it's obvious that is still they should have stuck with the 60GB.

Yet they keep pulling the bait and switch stunt with all these models.

I've herd there droping the,80GB becuase they are not getting the sales they want from it.

For wich i'm rather po at this point there's "been times i was thinking of saving up for the 80GB.

Even if it does have the limted bc through emulation.

At this point i know i won't go with a (360)...i've seen to many people i know have the rrod.

Btw there have been rumors floating around that the 40GB will drop in price soon.

Still i'm not sony expecting too if at all  :-({|=

The 60 Gig is still the best to grab, though, mine was only $350(got $150 credit back) from the Sony Store near me, plus no interest for a year, plus 5 free blu rays.  Too bad that deal isn't still going on.  That's the best deal Sony'll probably have for awhile, with them switching up the Gig's on new models, the price of the system doesn't seem to "truly" drop.

That'd be fine if they fixed them to display progressive scan for every game. As it stands right now, the non-40 gig PS3's are the only way to get a decent image out of a PS2 game. :(

I actually like playing PS2 games on real hardware with component video over on my PS3, I like the slightly sharper image you get on a real system.  I had Shining Force EXA (just as an example) playing on my PS3 and PS2 at the same point, and kept switching back and forth, and there was slightly more definition on the PS2.

Why did you use that game as an example? Besides being shit in all other aspects, the graphics are piss-poor too.

What difference does it make?  He's talking about the quality of the deck's video output, not the quality of the game.

A good game would have better graphics to judge.

A console's video output capabilities do not change from game to game.  GUTS's problem stems from the fact that PS3s don't handle 480i games very well, so any 480i game should look better on a PS2, whether it's a 'good' game or not.

Guitar Hero looked way better on my PS3 through HDMI than on my slim PS2 through component.

Does Guitar hero output 480p?  I think Necromancer hit the nail on the head, I'll have to compare some 480p games and see if they look the same on both or if I can see a small dif like in 480i games.  I know I don't like the upscaling or smoothing or whatever the PS3 does, it looks too blurry.
