Bought some games...
« on: January 31, 2008, 08:28:37 AM »
Well took a trip down to Gamestop, and walked out $100 lighter but with:

Mega Man: Powered Up! (PSP) - Wow. The disc is good, but for lack of a better word, the case is f*ckED UP. I'll need to pick up a case at multimediarecovery.com.

Taito Legends Power Up (PSP) - A smattering of the games on Taito Legends 1 and 2, nothing really advanced like the F3 system games though. Has Rastan 1 on it, and I actually like the gameplay better but not the sound and graphics (I like 2 better for that). Has an AWESOME enhanced version of Cameltry, and the original as well.

Sonic Mega Collection + (PS2) - I have all these games on computer, I mostly bought it because I also bought...

Sonic Gems Collection (Gamecube) - No cover (generic Gamestop cover) or manual, but hell now I have Sonic R (WITH MUSIC!) AND SONIC THE FIGHTERS!!!! US soundtrack for Sonic CD, but I don't care.

Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol. 1 (PS2) - The only reason I bought this is because it seems kinda rare, and bust3dstr8 raves about it.

Ghost Recon 2 (PS2) - I know Advanced Warfighter 2 is shit so I didn't buy that, but I played this original version on XBOX and I kick ass at it. I hope the PS2 version is just as good.

Capcom Classics Collection (PS2) - I bought it for Street Fighter 2. It looks like it might need some resurfacing.

Bloody Roar: Primal Fury (Gamecube) - No cover (generic Gamestop cover) or manual, but I have wanted this since I played it in Best Buy when the Gamecube was brand new. It's exceedingly rare, so I'm glad I have it.

Megaman Anniversary Collection (Gamecube) - I like the old Megaman games, but truth be told I bought this just because I have X Collection for Gamecube already.

And finally, Yobo Boss Battle XBOX lightgun. I don't have an XBOX, but c'mon, this thing is f*cking SWEET looking!

I also bought Lost In Space (the modern movie remake), Sin City, and the Dune 3-disc collectors edition, but they aren't games so nobody cares. :P

I really need to start saving my money. ^_^

These collections rock. I have them all for the GC. The Megaman X collection is good too. Great emulations of old classics. Slowdown and flicker-free! Good stuff.

Sin City is a great movie. Jessica Alba has never looked so good.

That Dune 3-disc set we were talking about in another thread. That's also a remake if it's the same one I'm thinking of, but a good remake. Has William Hurt in it?

House of The Dead 3, I believe that comes with the Saturn port of HOTD 1, but the music is f*cked up due to licensing issues or something or other.

Yeah, just now noticed, it's the 2000 remake.  ](*,)

Nice bunch of games (and movies) there, but you should've bought a Duo instead.  :P

Yeah, just now noticed, it's the 2000 remake.  ](*,)

No head slamming required, as it's better than the Lynch version (unless you really, really like Sting).

I hope you have a good time battling many bosses with your boss gun.  You cannot battle secretaries or any other subordinates with it, unfortunately.  Only bosses.

House of the Dead 3 has the Dreamcast version of House of the Dead 2 on it (it must be unlocked).  All of the music is intact.

Yeah, I got it all for what I said I did, it rules! ^__^

  and  #-o , respectively.

Now for the reviews!

The Capcom Classics Collection disc DOESN'T need to be resurfaced, and it freaking rules! STREET FIGHTER 2!!!

Fatal Fury is AWESOME, so much customization options and it's pretty much accurate with the Neo emulators, awesome arrange tracks as well.

Chost Recon 2 is boring. :(

Sonic Gems contains a Saturn-accurate version of Sonic R.

Megaman Anniversary Collection rules. Really good remixes!

I didn't know Bloody Roar was a Hudson game! It's pretty cool, but it's no Virtua Fighter.

I'm looking forward to House of the Dead 2 & 3 for Wii, since it'll be the first light gun game I can play on my projector. :)

Megaman: Powered Up just needed a bit of cleaning (If we chopped off the fingers of little kids in a couple of years video games would be dead but for the time being we'd have clean discs) and it works now.

IT f*ckING RULES.

The game is WAY more lighthearted than the original. The graphics are AMAZING and sometimes can be  mistaken for 2D, great animation! The voice acting is good, a bit cloying (I'm so glad I learned that word!) at times, but very professional. The music is the standard Megaman music, heavily arranged and ROMpler-ized. This "happier" treatment of the music may put off some (for example, the minor notes in Cutman's stage are major notes now) but if you like Japanese or just generally happy digital music, you'll love the soundtrack like I do.

The gameplay is Mega Man, pure and simple, just like the NES version. This is a GOOD THING. They did NOT f*ck THIS GAME UP. They gave this game a story, pretty much it's a retelling of Mega Man with modern embellishments. Good stuff.

The level editor is cool, but very time consuming and sometimes not very intuitive, on the flipside though, you can't really f*ck up with it either.

Overall, 5/5. ^_______^

Sonic the Fighters is AMAZING! It really makes you have respect for the Model 2 hardware with all the model squishing and stretching and amazing camerawork, all at a very smooth framerate. Love the music too!

Yeah, Sonic the Fighters is a fun game. I'd never heard of it before getting that collection.

I don't want to rain on your good time buying all of these neat games, but sometimes I think you should save this money so you can buy a TG16/PCE system and buy games for that instead  .
Quote from: Bonknuts
Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).
