That looks frickin' great!  Are they porting over Ys Eternal, or is it going to be completely different?

Looks like just combining the japanese 1&2 remakes on one cart.

Graphics look awful, but it could be fun.

i thought it looks pretty good,it is miles better than the original on the pc engine and the turbo.of course it won't be the ground breaking title that the original was.i hope they kept the story line intact.

The 3D is unfortunate, but I'll be buying it anyway. If it was a new Ys and not a remake though, I'd wait and see.

Sadly it wasn't.  I played when it came out.  The changed the mechanics around a lot.

But I'm sure a sucker, I'll probably buy it again anyway.

Bigdog, I am talking about the sloppy 3D graphics.  I'd rather see 2D hand-painted backgrounds than polygons.

Adol swings a sword now instead of running into enemies.  Is that the only play mechanic they changed around, Sensei?

It wasn't the messed-with gameplay (I *like* slamming into things, OK?) or the crap 3D that made me not import this, it was the fact that it cost $100. So I'll be happy to buy the US version for $35 or whatever.

IIRC, you have a choice of gameplay mechanics, you can either swing your sword like Ys 5 & up, or you can bump enemies, including the ability to use the stylus or the dpad.

Has anybody tried Ys Strategy for the DS?

Almost.  When you use the stylus you can bump into enemies but when using the D-pad you have to swing the sword.  But if Atlus can give us that option, that would be really great.  I don't think it would take too much effort.

I must be the only person who HATES the bumping into enemies nonsense. Then again, I never do seem to enjoy a Ys game for too long, whether it's Ys I with its insane hidden stuff ("gotta find the one correct pixel next to this lake") and impossible first boss ("this is the FIRST one?"), Ys III with it's... platforming, Ys IV with again it's first boss ("yeah, I like only being able to take one hit before I die") or the recent Ys game on the PSP ("I have to run along these ledges using the thumbstick, jump at the right times from ledge to ledge while avoiding enemies all within a very short time limit?"). I'm sure there's some kind of amazing awesomeness hidden within the Ys games, but I don't have the kind of patience it would take to find it.

So if everyone on here gets this game and hates it because its way too easy, then I'll probably pick it up. Otherwise... no. I stopped banging my head against things in junior high and I'm too old to start again now.  ](*,)
