Frickin' awesome!  I just hope they bring that to the States and on the PC.

P.S. - The conventional spelling of Falcom is with one c and zero x's:P

I don't really look at new Ys games as Ys anymore, but rather just new action RPGs. Some of the sequels might be cool and fun, but they're just in such a different league from I & II. This isn't a bad thing, few games can reach the same heights that I & II did.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Yeah, what Keranu said.

:)

Still, it will be neat to see what the new games are like.

I've been an Ys fan since the very early Turbo days, but I think Ys 6 was amazing!  I imported it on PC when it was first released.  For me I got almost the same amazing experience that I did playing Ys Book I&II for the first time.  I was blown away.  A lot of it had to do with the fact that I was playing a new Ys game for the first time since Ys V Expert,  but still I hold Ys 6 just as high as I do Ys Book I&II.  I guess I'm crazy but I loved Ys 6 from start to finish.  I also always find myself coming back and playing through it just like Ys Book I&II.

Ys 6 is the game that led me to pick a Turbo Grafx system. I had a lot of fun playing it, so I wanted to learn more about the series. So when I saw Ys I & II, I remembered how much I wanted to play it when it came out. I'm thrilled that they're bringing out a new game and hope it doesn't take too long to hit the States.

Ys games usually have one thing in common... fantastic music!  Except for part 5 maybe, it had good music but certainly not as good as the others.  I just hope they don't go orchestral.

An orchestrated Ys score would suck ass for a game. Same goes with any Falcom game, they makes the best musics.

Actually, it's starting to sound like the whole series will be released, possibly on PSP.  Ys 1 & 2 Chronicles is supposed to come out before Ys 7, & my guess is that it's a remake like Oath in Felghana, which'll rock!  Oath in Felghana(remake of Ys 3) has got to be my favorite Ys ever, along with Ys Origin.  I'm deffinitly an Ys nut, part of it, is the super fast action & combo's(think of Ys with sword swinging, on speed, it's so fricken fun!), another part is the music(ofcoarse), & another part is how more of the grand story unfolds with each game.  Especially since Ys 6, all the games have become more & more connected to eachother, & help explain things that are in Ys 1 & 2, & even Ys 3 is connected to 1 & 2, thanks to Ys 6(trying not to spoil anything for anyone that has yet to play these newer games).  More & more we're finding out about what the Black Pearl really is, who the goddesses really were, not to mention more connections to the Romun Empire, I love these games!

edit-I forgot to mention, I really doubt that Ys 1 & 2 Chronicles is the DS games repackaged.  The DS games were made by Interchannel, & Falcom had no input on it.  I can't imagine Falcom even touching the DS ones, as they are up to Falcom's standards(not that they blow, but, if Falcom had done them, they would rock!).  Also, note that in all the artwork, is the artwork for all the games.  Instead of having Mask of the Sun artwork, they have Dawn of Ys artwork!!!

Any shot that YS V will ever be released here or translated by someone? I am kicking around importing that (unpopular) title. Has anyone played it?

It's been in the process of being translated by some hackers for awhile now, but I have no idea what that status is. I hope it wasn't abandoned.

Ys 5 SNES(not the PS2 version) has been fully translated, but not arranged & inserted.  It's basically in limbo for the foreseeable future.
