I'm embarassed to ask, but why "obey" and all the related jokes? Is it a reference to a NEC/Hudson Soft TV ad or something?

It is mainly related to the initial post of this thread. Then "obey" became more and more the main synonym for playing the PCE/Turbob :)

examples:


What did you obey today? -> What did you play on your PCE/Turbob today?

What should I buy for teh obey? -> What game should I buy for my PCE/Turbob?

Today is a good day to obey. -> Today is a good day to fire up the PCE/Turbob.

It's a pretty good movie except for the parking lot fight scene which lasts like 5 hours too long.

Parking lot fight is uberawesome. In an earlier release, the scene was kept way shorter, but they put it back to its original length on the dvd release. At least in europe it was like that.
