does someone know, why NEC AV. decided to choose the route pattern from the over sea Outrun instead from the japanese version? also the game was released in japan only. le funney. but i like how it is. the kaigai (oversea) route pattern is just more fun.

I think you answered your own question there.

lol yeah.. but that's probably mainly because i'm used to the oversea version since my childhood :)

the japanese would probably think vice versa.

Neither did I.

I've been enjoying Out Run PCE these last few weeks, especially listening to the mellow-jazz high score theme which you hear in its entirety if you don't get past stage three. Masterpiece!

What's also weird is that the US Genesis version of Outrun ONLY features the Japan route pattern.  I prefer the "oversea" routes myself.  I never understood why there were two different versions of the route pattern.  Did the route pattern need to be censored for the sensitive USA?  Could our un-Asianness not handle the Japanese route pattern?  I will forever remain perplexed.

Anyway, I like how on the overseas version you can turn left right away and go under the stone pillar tunnels instead of having to wait for them at a later stage like in the Japanese version.  Or you can turn right and go to the rock canyon.  More to see earlier in the game in the overseas version, I think.

that's what pleases me the most on the oversea version, joe. exactly that. i love the stone pillar tunnels coming right after the 1st left turn. it's so classy :D
