Anyone bought/built a desktop arcade stick for MAME use?

Hi all, just started researching this idea again and looking for tips/info, etc.

I'm figuring this'll probably be a 1-player stick, possibly w/trackball and spinner (if I can do it without making the thing obscenely huge). 8-way stick plus maybe 8-10 buttons total should suffice.

An 8-way joystick and some buttons look to be fairly cheap. I actually have a couple joysticks and a dozen or so buttons around here that I bought from Happs many years ago, along with a keyboard emulator that I never ended up using either. Trackball and spinner are pricey though.

Thoughts? Does anyone here make these things? I'd love to do an arcade cab someday but in the meantime something like this would suffice.

I was just recently checking out this guys thread for a mini arcade cab (I believe was MAME) and he custom built all of it, if I can find that website again he would be a good person to get with on where he got parts, he did 6 buttons, trackball, and stick for his controls setup. If I remember right he was trying to do a low cost build. Although it was a very sharp looking mini cab!

Ok after sometime of searching the web again, I found (if I remember correctly) the source site from what lead me to another forum, or possibly the same forum just a different guys build. This might get you started in the right direction as for what your looking for...I wish I could find the one Im talking about, the guy had a freakin sweet build and alot of useful info in his thread on parts etc!
