Really?  I've only played around 30 hours and I've beaten the game!  What have you been doing, letting your character stand in the Nexus overnight?  :)

The Spider is easy.  The boss after that... the Flamelurker... that can be a challenge (but can also be really easy.

For a easy fight with the armored spider try bow&arrow. The blacksmith in the nexus sells arrows and a short compond bow can be found in 1-1.

Before playing Demons Souls make sure you have an extra controller available.  You will be smashing the first controller after your first few hours playing the game.  I have read about DS on many fourms and on every forum there is always somebody who tells you how easy it is.  I am here to tell you that it is NOT easy.  That being said it is a great game, I just think it would really benefit from a selectable difficulty.

The bosses are easy (except the insanely cheap 1-4 boss).  The main enemies, especially the red-eyed knights, are a huge pain.  You will get frustrated when you die to regular enemies and lose your souls and even more frustrated when you die on your way back to reclaim your souls.  The levels are huge and it can be annoying when you have to run through them again from the beginning because you died.  That's really about it as far as "frustrating" goes.

Here is my complete review of the game.

Demonbrandt is ok but the northern regalia is better.Once you beat the (false king) later in the game hang on to it's soul.It will be used to make the northern regalia.

The best sword is the Dragon Bone Smasher which I had.  I think it starts out with 200 or 300+ attack or some crap like that.  The bad thing is that it is slow as hell, but I worked my way through most of the game with it.  It one-shots the grim reaper.

I got a bunch of those but as you mention it's downside for being slow for on it's attacking.Wich is one of the reason why i hardly use it.
